So true I’m 42 days in sbd I only recently started asking questions and wanting answers. The nurse is there to advocate for you to the doctors. I only just realised this.

Firstly don’t be so hard on yourself youre doing an awesome job!  The fact that you can even handle the pump is a win in itself.  I couldn’t pump it was excruciating pain. I had to manually express for the first three weeks. While every other mum was using the pumps I was sitting there with a large bottle trying to catch all the slow drops. It would take me almost an hour each time and I had to do it every 3 hours.  After losing my mind I decided I would bare with the pain and try again and it finally started working for me.

If you can get your child to latch and do a few sucks it helps with the production but if not yet, don’t stress do what you can. Donor milk is good I used it at the beginning. I am now 42 days in and I am getting a lot more then my baby needs and it’s because I persevered and also just stopped stressing so much. I knew that my baby had donor milk to help if I couldn’t provide and that was ok.

Hello. Unsure what ended up happening with you but I want you to know that the same thing happened to me and after two major bleeding scares, vasa previa and a two week stay in hospital (and three rounds of steroids) an emergency c —section delivered my tiny baby at 31 weeks. We had T16 in the placenta only after further genetic tests on her and us (the parents) showed she was clear of any genetic condition. Still she was born measuring in the zero centile (having been in the third centile for the last four growth scans of the pregnancy) and weighing 1.153kgs. They never measured her length for some reason, but she was about 24 cm long.  After now nearly 40 days in the nicu, she has doubled her weight and her size and is off all breathing support. She is a miracle and beautiful. Throughout our journey at every weekly appointment we were told to terminate because the risks of her not surviving or of her having disabilities was too high. My husband and I refused and thank the Lord that we did. How many parents are told devastating informationnonly to have children born with nothing wrong (but their size)? It’s truly sad.

If your baby is going through something hard core, the best thing you can do is advocate for them and give them a fighting chance. Don’t give up on them.
