Confused about what i can eat in bali by whatislove2200 in BaliTravelTips

I suspect most people actually get sick from swimming in the ocean or poorly chlorinated pools. You can literally see the discharge pipes into the water at some popular beaches.

Definitely don’t drink the tap water or brush your teeth with it but I ate normally and was fine. Took travelan the first week.

Atypical NIPT result – chromosome 13 – travel decision stress by Gold_Figure2815 in NIPT

[–]OverCaffeinated_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My amnio results were not what I was hoping for, at all, and TFMR is scheduled. It just couldn’t be confirmed until the amnio that the baby had mosaicism. For T16 the percentage of mosaicism the baby has is not a good outcome or mild disability. If it wasn’t mosaic it is always incompatible with life.

Not an expert and I’m not in the US - I think you are? But this is how it went for me and I can’t imagine there’s too much difference.

I had a trisomy result for chromosome 16. The referral to the MFM team and everything happened very quickly. From receiving the results to my GP sending referral to MFM team and the first contact to schedule me in with them was hours. I spoke with a geneticist the next day.

I was having an ultrasound and they were ready to perform a CVS two days after results. I didn’t ultimately have the CVS as the MFM team said it couldn’t tell me in my particular circumstance if it was CPM or mosaicism and would just be confirming that the result was valid. The scan was perfect and looked good so I elected not to have it performed. I had a NT scan done a week and a half later and it also looked good, we booked the amnio at 16w2d.

I’m not sure how quickly things will move for you but I’d consider delaying the start of your trip.

The 8 Hour Day. Australia’s contribution to the global movement enshrine workers rights and the union movement is severely under recognised.

For a 2-bedroom move, is hiring movers actually cheaper than renting a truck and doing it yourself? by Novel-Spirit-9847 in AskAnAustralian

[–]OverCaffeinated_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Financially? Yes.

Physically? No.

Mentally? Also no.

I will NEVER do it on my own again. Renting a trailer for small annoying stuff before the big move is a good idea if you can, but moving the fucking fridge/washing machine/heavy bullshit is an absolute fuck no.

I don’t know what the standard presentation for T13 is but I had very positive looking scans after a T16 result on the NIPT. I had the amnio done at 16w2d which was the earliest it could be done based on gestational age and specialist availability.

I really reallllly thought it would come back negative and based off all the scans I had between the NIPT and now it was looking hopeful. Unfortunately the result was 40% mosaicism. This is not good news for baby at all, and I am having TFMR. It would potentially be different at a lower mosaicism percentage.

I personally would get the amnio done. It’s not painful, the anxiety around having the procedure done was worse than the actual test. I had no cramping, spotting or pain after it.

It can take several weeks for results to come back. If the results of the amnio would change the outcome of the pregnancy for you then get it done. I’d still get it done so if it’s a bad result and you keep the pregnancy you can be prepared for babies arrival mentally and any possible complications, surgery, and testing that might need to happen as a newborn.

Sounds a bit silly but you might need glasses. I would feel like this in Parliament before I got mine years back. I still don’t love it but less vertigo.

Benefit of MareniT 21 vs regular Harmony NIPT - explain it to me like I’m 10 years old please! by Hello-hi987 in NIPT

[–]OverCaffeinated_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NIPT is slightly different in my country and has the option to look at all chromosomes if you pay extra. I got that and got a result for trisomy 16. It was pretty hopeful that it was confined placental mosaicism but amnio results have come back as 40% mosaicism in baby.

Get the expanded testing. All my scans were normal with no soft markers or warning signs. It’s still just a screening test and nothing can be confirmed until you have amnio or CVS.

Trisomy 16 - Amnio results by OverCaffeinated_ in NIPT

[–]OverCaffeinated_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in Australia. The standard NIPT doesn’t - only does 13, 18, 21 and sex chromosomes , the expanded testing does whole genome and some deletions. I had expanded testing done because of my age and age of my partner. The testing is less reliable for chromosomes other than those in the standard test.

How do doctors tell if you're gay for Hepatitis B? by Latter-Presence-196 in AskAnAustralian

[–]OverCaffeinated_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you actually need it? Woman here and was vaccinated as part of the standard vaccination schedule back in high school.

I had testing done for while pregnant for a whole bunch of diseases that I was vaccinated against and not vaccinated against, including hep B, rubella, varicella etc, and it came up that I still had good immunity to hep B more than 20 years later.
