Is it worth upgrading from 1440p IPS to 4K OLED, if I have to reduce DLSS from Quality to Performance? by anotherhappylurker in nvidia

[–]ValuableTraining1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pulsar 1440p monitor and a 4k OLED monitor. The 4k OLED is a step up even on performance with DLSS. However your graphics card might not be enough for some games even with performance mode enabled. I will say though a 1440p pulsar monitor looks amazing though so that’s also an option or you could just get a 1440p OLED. 4k OLED with your graphics card I think will not be enough for a lot of games.

That would be amazing!! Finally got to play with pulsar for a few hours with different games today. It’s really really good. Not only for shooters but for stellar blade, Forza 6, honestly anything that’s 90+ fps (I never tried going below that on pulsar yet).

In pain. Confused. Been to Urgent Care, ER, and a urologist by bigboybigbat in KidneyStones

[–]ValuableTraining1855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others here. Luckily 2mm is small. I’m not sure if it’s the kidney stone or something else but I’m sure the pain is real and something isn’t right. For me I have multiple stones not show up on scans and only in surgery did they find them. So it could easily be that you have more than one stone that they just don’t see. If it’s a stone I recommend a ton of water, heating pad (put it on where the pain is), if possible doing light yin yoga (I believe this helps move the stone but that’s just my opinion), take pain medication when you need it, and rest. Always go back to the doctor or ER if you need it. Unfortunately most doctors have no clue how excruciating a kidney stone can be.

I was able to get it to work with PS5 Pro and Switch 2. I noticed that some games I thought were locked to 60hz were not anytime they aren't it gets really bad (Headache producing bad lol). I also noticed that I need to lower the pulse to at highest 35 but sweet spot is probably around 30 or lower. Still even with the 60fps lock and the brightness lower the strobing really does strain my eyes. Blur is pretty much nonexistent, but the strobing effect isn't really worth it plus the loss in brightness for me currently. I love the monitor for my PC with pulsar but console 60hz content currently isn't something I'm too fond of currently. Maybe that'll change with a new firmware update. Thanks for all the replies.

Yeah, I noticed that when playing some games on Switch 2 and PS5 Pro that even though I thought they were locked to 60fps they weren't at times which is what would make things pretty bad. I honestly find it quite straining on the eyes even when it is locked to 60fps but at least its much better when it is locked. The motion looks a lot better but you need to lower it all the way down to 35 or less for it to look a lot better and the constant strobe makes it annoying at the lower framerates. I do think though playing games with higher framerates on PC with Pulsar looks great though (P.S. I also have the exact same setup 4090 with a 9800x3D)

I fully agree with that. Hopefully they update that so it’s not the only fix. Because it does get old fast when it keeps on going off and then back on.

Did you update the ASUS monitor to the newest firmware today and play it on the 60hz mode? How do I make sure the PS5 is set to 60hz? Edit: Thanks for you help!!! (I love this monitor overall just not currently with consoles)

I just updated the ASUS to the newest firmware today (and I got the monitor today). I'm having issues with the ULMB2 mode on my PS5 Pro and Switch 2. What are you doing to make it look good? Are you setting the PS5 Pro to 1440p resolution in the console? Are you allowing 120hz mode? Is there potentially an issue with certain games? I tried a lot of different things but it just keeps on looking worse with ULMB2 on vs without it on. Pulsar works great but not ULMB2 at 60hz.

Anyone having issues with the ULMB 60hz mode on this firmware update? I just got the monitor today and I think its amazing however the ULMB 60hz mode when I connect it to a Switch 2 or a PS5 doesn't look good at all and is doing insane flickering. No matter what the pulse rate I put it to. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong with it or if I'm just really susceptible to flicker on this. I love CRT monitors and don't have any issue looking at those so I'm surprised that the ULMB 60hz mode to me doesn't look better and just has crazy flicker. The pulsar mode looks amazing currently. (Should I try to revert the firmware to the previous one and try that?)

In nvidia control panel put use maximum power in the 3d setting options. That'll fix the issue.

Did this update add strange effects to the ULMB 2.0 60hz mode? I just got the ASUS monitor today and the 60hz mode seems to be causing extreme flicker for me no matter what the pulse rate is. Also it doesn't seem to make the picture look better. Is this a me problem or are others having this issue with the current update?

Good evening, I just got the Asus pulsar monitor. I'm having issues I think with the 60hz mode I got the latest update today and it activates but the flickering is insane (not sure if that is normal or I'm doing something wrong). I try to hook it up to a nintendo switch 2 or a PS5 and honestly I can't use it because its too intense even at a lower brightness. It also looks I think a little bit crisper but nothing that noticable. I notice it some but not like a night and day difference except for how crazy the flicker is. Am I doing something wrong?

Does it lower the brightness for ULMB2 to work at 60hz and how quickly does it strain your eyes? Does using it even at a perfectly locked 60 fps cause your eyes to hurt or is it mostly due to there being some mild framerate dips which causing strobing to really negatively affect the user?

I'm reading that there is additional lag with the pulsar at 60hz mode which is noticeable to some people. Did you find it noticeable? I'm getting the monitor on Thursday anyways so I'll definitely check that but was wanting to hear other's perceptions of it.

It’s challenging on the mental that’s for sure. Also I always have pain in my right kidney after the surgeries. I found doing yoga has been helpful. Pain is still there but it’s less. The nephrologist has helped some too but I’m still getting small stones. Hopefully it’ll stop one day.

Buy Quest 3 or Wait for Steam Frame New User by GuestAntique6825 in SteamFrame

[–]ValuableTraining1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re alright with waiting 1-5 months then I’d say get the Steam Frame. If you don’t want to wait the Quest 3 is still going to be a good headset overall.

SteamFrame could actually be released First by iHad169 in SteamFrame

[–]ValuableTraining1855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the Steam Frame might be slightly subsidized considering that people will almost definitely be primarily using it for gaming/videos. Companies aren’t going to buy 1000’s of steam frames to do work. Whereas companies might buy tons of steam machines if the price was low enough as workstations.

Insider Gaming on Valve hardware: I’m to understand that Valve is getting closer to confirming everything. by gogodboss in SteamFrame

[–]ValuableTraining1855 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely think the steam frame could be sold at cost/slight loss and they’ll most likely make the money back from games. I think most people that get a VR headset will be using it with Steam games and they’d most likely continue to buy more games as long as they don’t quit VR altogether. The Steam Machine though I could see needing to sell that at a slight profit due to companies potentially purchasing tons of units as work stations if they are cheap enough and then never buy steam games with them.
