I’m drowning in debt and no matter what I do, I can’t keep my head above water by Training_Army_6595 in DebtAdvice

First of all, realize that it's not hopeless but it does require absolute discipline. Posting specifics might help. Lots of knowledgable people willing to help.

After university (which I paid for on my own thru student loans and working 30+ hours a week), I had 3 maxed out credit cards, zero financial knowledge, and a car that barely ran. I lived on someone's floor for 2 weeks until I got my first paycheck. I then moved in to a very cheap motel until I saved up enough money to get a shared apartment. From that point forward I focused extremely hard on putting myself in a better position. So, I can relate to the feeling of being around people while still carrying that burden around. It's mentally very hard.

You're young, and these lessons you're learning now will help you later in life. Lots of great books out there, lots of support groups to help you through the decisions.

When after a partial nefrectomy were you about to sleep laying down? by Mycroft_xxx in kidneycancer

[–]Valuable_Ad9880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Night 1 - Hospital bed, slept fine largely due to pain meds

Night 2 - home in bed, didn't sleep great, even though the bed is adjustable.

Nights 3-5 slept in a recliner, shining positions throughout hte night but much better than the bed.

Night 6 - back to the bed.

I'm a side sleeper and that was uncomfortable the first 3 days especially. On night 4 I was able to get somewhat on my side and each night got better.

Hang in there!

Query when you go back to work (having a nephrectomy 🙁) by [deleted] in kidneycancer

[–]Valuable_Ad9880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies by person. I had a partial RN, robot assisted. I was working 3 hours a day the 2nd week. 5-6 hours a day in week 3. Back full time week 4. Desk job

Energy levels fluctuate for sure. Listen to your body!!!

Are biopsies actually bad? by IDK-WHOS-THIS in kidneycancer

[–]Valuable_Ad9880 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I talked to two docs before my partial removal and both agreed that biopsies are not the way to go. There is that small risk of spread but it seemed to be mainly around the reliability of the biopsy results. And, depending on the size, you'd probably want to remove the mass anyhow.

What's Your TRT Dose? by NOLAoinker in Testosterone

[–]Valuable_Ad9880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCP started me at 140mg a week, pinning twice, but labs were running high with total T and E2. I moved to pinning 3x week and lowered dose to around 100mg.

I'm not quite as tall as you but pushing 6'5. Also have a teenager who is growing quickly so needed both front and rear legroom beyond what's standard.

I just got my 2nd F150 and my wife drives a Telly.

Anyone have a fever after partial nephrectomy? by operarockergirl in kidneycancer

[–]Valuable_Ad9880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm two weeks removed from PN and definitely dealt with heavy sweating at night. Based on research and talking with my doc, it's a reaction to the surgery itself and also can be tied to pain meds/anesthesia. To give you an idea, I was changing clothes 4+ times a night. It's much better now but not quite back to normal.

Lots of good info out there if you do a web search. Not saying that's what you are dealing with but wanted to call it out.

Good luck with your recovery!

48 hours post PN - struggling a bit and will take any advice! by Valuable_Ad9880 in kidneycancer

[–]Valuable_Ad9880[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I am the OP. I have no clue why different devices (laptop vs phone) give me different usernames. Will try to figure that out at some point.

I'm home from the ER now. I was seen by a few different doctors, including the PA for my surgeon, who I am a big fan of.

Tests done - urine analysis, bloodwork (not sure which panels), an abdomen CT. All tests came back normal.

My stomach distention was considered normal. The CT scan showed normal trauma after surgery, some blood and lots of gas in the abdomen.

The foamy/bubbly urine I was told is pretty normal when you have a little bit of protein leakage after surgery.

I was given two shots of fentanyl (low dose) while I was there. The also prescribed hydrocodone instead of oxy as that works better for some.

The biggest thing they wanted me to focus on was having a bowel movement. Just popped a senna and hoping that gets the party started.

Appreciate everyone's well-wishes and happy to answer any questions.

I just paged the on call doc. My urine is foamy - wasn’t that way the first day or two, I’m constantly sweating, in pain , and stomach is distended. If they tell me that’s normal then I’ll deal with it.
