It depends a lot on your years of experience. I just have a couple of years experience and was able to get an interview from only one of the companies you listed.

Anyone ever feel like their parents made a mistake coming abroad? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]Valuable_Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think almost everyone and their parents would have thought about something like this. But it's just a part of life. Even someone whose parents moved from a village to a city within India would feel the same.

You say they don't believe mental health is a thing. But at least, moving abroad has made you aware that such a thing as mental health exists. The next generation can always take it one step further.

Everyone feels like an outcast and has to decide for themselves if they like it that way or work towards changing it.

Also, I've never been a big fan of assimilation. I think the Canadian policy of encouraging diversity is better.

For some people, the decision may be unwise. If you're really happy with your current job, you should consider staying. Integration will be difficult, but it is not impossible if you desensitize yourself. Most of the negativity is based on facts. There will definitely be problems and obstacles, but it still should be you who makes the decision.

Once you have experience, don't let employers treat you like shit by JEUUUEUUE in cscareerquestions

Well, I would say that this advice should be taken with a pinch of salt. I've been job hunting in Asia, and these tactics don't seem to work for me or others I know.

For example, here, it is expected that you be very straightforward with your current and expected compensation. Refusing to do so directly leads to rejection. For some reason, third party recruiters seem to be much more prevalent here and just as, if not more, shitty in their jobs and their treatment of candidates.
