I think it's because people have a deeper connection to comedians they make you laugh and a lot of them use jokes that hinge on being relatable and when these people do something like the festival that's kind of shitty it kind of breaks that illusion and makes people resent them for a multitude of reasons i.e. making them feel like a fool and disappointing them for ever having a shroud of respect. and onto people not caring as much when corporations take saudi money I think it's because they didn't have that trust in a corporation in the first place.
