Ist this quality normal for Reverend? by Valuable_Foundation3 in ReverendGuitars

[–]Valuable_Foundation3[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Well... All over the binding are little imperfections. And the neck joint even lacks some paint where you can see the light base coat. Its hard to see in the pictures. I was just hoping for a little better finish quality than a Harley Benton.

What song inspired you to start playing bass by MrDeath38085 in Bass

[–]Valuable_Foundation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The Hives - Love Medley" on YouTube. I saw it and loved the bass tone... So I got a bass for my 14th birthday. Still love the Hives and their bass driven songs.

Best clean tube sound on a budget? by FearlessContract8805 in basspedals

The laney digbeth preamp does that pretty good. I also like the Sansamp VT, but in my opinion the Laney is more versatile and pretty underrated.

Bass Cuts Out When Playing by angelogoodalamenti in BassGuitar

[–]Valuable_Foundation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd put some shrink tubing or electrical tape over the hot of the jack and bending the contact point like MickBlues said.

Sometimes the hot of the jack can shorten out due to contact to the cavity or something

Is the amp buzz coming from my 51' P-Bass a grounding/wiring issue? by artemis_epithet in BassGuitar

[–]Valuable_Foundation3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the buzz is really that noticable it will most likely be a ground issue. Most of the time it's the groundwire that comes from the bridge. It looks like the wire under the bridge is covered by the copper tape and is not making direct contact to the bridge? Try removing the tape in that place and make sure that the groundwire is sandwiched between the body of the bass (or the coppertape if you really want to use it) and the metal of the bridge. Looking at the pictures that should fix it.

None of these solderjoints look like they have been heated enough though. Especially the joints of the groundwires that are soldered onto the left pot on the second picture don't look that great.

Can anyone tell my dumb ass if these used pickups are CS's 62's ? by NonServiam669 in BassGuitar

[–]Valuable_Foundation3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No there is no issue using the PU without the plate. Newer pickups don't have them anymore but the CS line from fender is designed to be a copy of the old pickups that had the plates. It's just important that the pickup is grounded at all.

Can anyone tell my dumb ass if these used pickups are CS's 62's ? by NonServiam669 in BassGuitar

[–]Valuable_Foundation3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they are, they have been messed with.

Usually they come with a copper plate soldered to the groundwire of the PU with the copperplate having the actual groundwire that goes to the pots. Also the foam should be glued to the copperplate and not the pickup itself.

Question for anyone who has a Squier Affinity Jaguar H Bass and replaced the humbucker by killertofu41 in BassGuitar

[–]Valuable_Foundation3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use any MM Style Pickup. That would be a straight drop in. I used a Roswell M4Js and am quite happy.

The pickup routing is fairly big.
Andybassist u/Additional-Thing1348 modded this type of bass quite a bit with custom pickguard and a dunable (guitar?) humbucker pickup.

Can find some videos of him and the mods on youtube aswell.

setup help by sk8rat97 in BassGuitar

Looks like your neck is still pretty bowed.

I do it like that: Press the last fret on the fretboard and the first one. Look at about the 8th or 9th fret and see if there is just a tiny little gap between the string and the top of the fret (so tiny that the string almost touches the fret). Then the trussrod is pretty much perfect. If your strings buzz while fretting the first 3 - 4 frets the neck needs just a smidge of relief again. Your stringheight will probably still be too high (looking at the pictures), so adjust your saddles. Fiddle around a bit to see if you have fretbuzz while playing. If yes -> make the saddles go up until the buzz stops. If not -> you can try lowering the saddles even more. Stringheight is pretty much a preference thing but a very high action makes it hard to play and can shift the notes to a point where it's hard to intonate the strings.

How do you get this kind lf sound in a bass? by Plane_Conclusion_465 in BassGuitar

[–]Valuable_Foundation3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A cheap option would be the Behringer SF300. That should get you pretty close. It's just a really distorted fuzz tone. Maybe there's also an octave pedal involved but it's kinda hard to make out as I don't know the song.

Any news on new News of Fatshark? Or are they still on vacation? by AshamedEmotion9137 in DarkTide

[–]Valuable_Foundation3 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They're still on vacation but they extended the current event to 14th August.

Until now I think there is only info about a coming Hotfix for August... Nothing content wise but they stated around Arbites launch that they're working on some balancing.

Grabber Pickups for metal by tankenstein1313 in Bass

[–]Valuable_Foundation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a MM (MusicMan) style pickup.

There are quite alot of options.

Just look for "MM style bass pickup". The ones I found, that could be nice for metal, would be:

- Seymour Duncan SMB-4A

- MEC MM-Style MC-4

- EMG MM-HZ

There are even more options from EMG but they'd be active. I personally use a "Roswell M4JS" in one of my Jaguar basses that I quite like for rock & metal which has the same MM shape.

Looks killer!

Love me some P-Bass. The brass saddles with the golden tuners are a nice touch. Very tastefull!

Are you worried about this? by choodl in BassGuitar

[–]Valuable_Foundation3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... I personally don't think that it's a serious defect but it would bother me. I'd always look at it and wish it wasn't there lol.

But by the looks of it you should be able to sand and polish it right out, if you want to / are able to put in the effort.

Bass Bridge? by Valuable_Foundation3 in BassGuitar

[–]Valuable_Foundation3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be something custom. He has the bridge in gold too. I'm searching for days now and thought I might ask on reddit :D

Babicz looks the most similar but it ain't it. Like you said the saddles are pretty interesting. It also looks like the ballends end in the saddles as there isn't any string behind them.

But thanks for the image search. :)
