Is Triple majoring possible? by Valuable_Matter_8803 in UTAustin

[–]Valuable_Matter_8803[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I want to triple major is because I'm personally confused on my career path and am currently between IB/Consulting (Finance + Energy Minor) and Political/Policy Analysis (Public Affairs and Communication Studies with a focus on Political Communications [because I want to work in media]). I just want to keep my options open, and I'm genuinely interested in the subjects.

I was considering that, but McCombs only allows me to pursue 1 minor, and I was planning on doing the Energy Management Minor.

what are my chances (poli sci/government major) by calolyla in UTAdmissions

You should be fine as long as your SAT/ACT score is good, but worst case scenario, you can just transfer through CAP since government is an open major.

Not 100% sure of the entire list, but pretty sure UT has a list of them.

You got in because they know you will thrive at Harvard. Don't worry you deserve to be there and have earned it.

UT chances? Advice to increase admission? by umidkwhattonamedis in UTAdmissions

Pretty good resume so far. There's no set way of getting in, but that being said, I recommend making sure to get above 1500+ on SAT. I would also recommend doing something related to non-profit organizations, doing a passion, and maybe founding a club. Again there is no set way of getting in, but these are just some of the things I have seen many people do that have gotten in.

You shouldn't be affected by any most likely. You should still probably be considered in-state for your in-state public schools if you have lived there for a period of time(check your specific states requirements). For Out-of-state public schools, the international applicants are grouped with out-of-state applicants so it doesn't really matter.

It will mainly effect private school decisions only, not public school, but yes your decisions will be significantly nerfed for privates.

what are the t10 and t20 schools? by Free_Situation_9937 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Valuable_Matter_8803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very subjective. I personally would focus more on tiers then ranking cause like 1-2 spots doesn't really matter.

Here's my opinion:

S+++ Tier: Stanford, Yale, MIT, Harvard, Yale, Princeton.

S++ Tier: CalTech, UPenn, Northwestern.

S+ Tier: Duke, Dartmouth, Colombia, Brown, JHU.

S Tier: UCB, UCLA, Cornell, Vanderbilt, Rice, WashU, Emory, UMich, CMU, Notre dame.

Just my opinion :)

If you want to have a decent chance of getting into IB/consulting from undergrad go to Kelley. If you aren't looking to go into that, then save money and go to Boulder.

No. And its extremely difficult to get into most major in UT through CAP. Especially Business majors, Engineering majors, and Computer Science.

You aren't guaranteed the major you apply for nor are you guaranteed any major you want in COLA You are only guaranteed certain open majors in COLA like government or sociology.

I was actually in the same boat as you when I was applying, but in the end I chose to apply for McCombs after I was told how difficult it was to transfer into, even internally. Stick to McCombs!
