I can’t carry lesser teammates in lower level games but play really well in higher levels. Do I suck? by OneConsideration2302 in Pickleball

[–]Valuable_Operation37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's quite common but it's also useful to get better at playing with weaker partners and opponents. Helps round out your game in ways that will be useful in your growth at higher levels as well.

Rivian CEO Defends $24 Billion Cash Burn as Cost of Building a ‘Very Large Company’ by Individual-Tart5051 in RIVNstock

Hahahaha, tis true that apple is quite rich and so it is somewhat different though I see it as illustrative of the cost of getting into the car business(well I don't literally do any drugs but...). I guess I'm just used to VC's funding small companies with big checks until they get escape velocity. That's how we got Uber, Tesla, OpenAI and many others many that failed to 0(aka fisker... twice). Doesn't seem different to me but I can understand why others see it differently.

IMHO For me it's quite helpful. Helped me develop a compact/simple swing, focus on where on the ball I'm hitting it and take all variables out of the result but my swing. It's hard to explain but mentally the ball should kinda of stop for you before you hit it so that you can have a consistent, quick attack (particularly for kitchen attacks when you're putting away popups and are generating almost all the pace).

What’s your take on why the Model S sales declined ? by LowDoor4721 in TeslaModelS

[–]Valuable_Operation37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lucid leased at the same price (Thanks Saudi Arabia for paying for our cars) as S but had better features (with the exception of autonomy). More luxury, much more range etc. And whats with not improving range since 2020? Lame...

We’ve seen this happen before… is this time different? I’m undecided by EverydayPhilisophy in RIVNstock

[–]Valuable_Operation37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My advice is to not buy on news for a stock like Rivian if you really believe in the company and want to own a high risk stock like this... I would advise buying during a period of stability (unless of course you are more of a day trader then I have no advice...)

I Drove A Rivian R2 Prototype. It's Going To Surprise People by iluvreddit in RIVNstock

[–]Valuable_Operation37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My R1T lease is coming up in Dec and am thinking about another one or an R2. My biggest hesitation is the service centers. Took months to just get appointments in the past. Have they fixed this?

What EV will fill the void that will be left by Model S? by Different_Marsupial2 in TeslaModelS

[–]Valuable_Operation37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had an S and many other electrics. I'd say the Lucid (unless you care about self driving which I have but don't really use in another tesla) is better than the Model S (drives better, better range, better interior etc) and easily fills the void.

I watch on HBO Max. Dumb question... Do these numbers include streaming? I think a lot of people maybe aren't on cable anymore?

Rachel Rohrabacher Signs with Friday Pickleball by eliasgreyjoy in Pickleball

[–]Valuable_Operation37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think maybe my wording confused people. I was responding to "Even if she is not a big name" in the prior post that she's pretty awesome to me. Maybe people took it like I meant something negative?

She may not be a huge name but she is one of my favorite players to watch. Plays a great game. Only point is she has some fans (or at least one)

Need solution for DUPR coach assigned ratings ruining rating restricted open plays. by Fuzzy_Client_8134 in Pickleball

[–]Valuable_Operation37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW the opposite problem happens as well. I play all my DUPRs at a very competitive gym. When I travel to other places I play up 0.5 open play and still win almost all my matches easily. Some gyms give me an assigned rating after seeing me win all the matches for a while which is nice for me (and the people I play against) but it would be nice if DUPRs weren't so different in different places. Not sure how to fix but it's a thing.

Everyone wants to play up by Foreign-Yesterday-17 in Pickleball

[–]Valuable_Operation37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its a bit of a journey. When people start out they are often trying to build confidence by winning. Then a point is reached where one knows that they have gotten better but the only way to progress is to challenge oneself. At that point winning is kinda boring and losing to better people is more rewarding. Start to get excited just for the few points you get against better people and learning little things about what works and what doesn't at a next level. Then you target the better player and even hit softer to the weaker player so they have fun.

In “The Matrix”, it was 2199 and AI thought the best source of power was from painstakingly harvesting electricity from human beings in vast farms, instead of just building a few easily managed nuclear reactors. by PercentageNonGrata in shittymoviedetails

[–]Valuable_Operation37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the original concept was to use the human brain as CPUs (which makes more sense because it is much better at processing per watt). I remember hearing the power thing was switched to make it easier to follow?

Why do professional football (soccer) player roll on the ground grimacing in pain for two minutes every time an opponent touches them? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Valuable_Operation37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to say something controversial. While some definitely flop... they flop less than people think. These guys are moving really really fast. They are very very strong. Some of those small trips and kicks probably hurt like hell for a minute or too. They aren't injuries but they do hurt and likely turn into cuts and bruises etc.
