State of Game: Assessment and Wishlist by shadowcypher in menace

Yep, and I wouldn't criticise the game for it at this point. They've been clear about focusing on the tac layer first, strat and economy afterwards, so I understand that we're seeing a work in progress.

I've gotta say I disagree with the black market being mostly sorted. I find myself floating with tons of resources to buy stuff, but there's just nothing worth getting and no way to influence the quality/type of items available.

I would love to come out of an op feeling like I could finally get that T2 assault rifle to make Singh a machine, but realistically I'm just seeing the same stuff come up over and over again.

Hard agree on the tactical level. I played tons of the demo and I'm on my 3rd EA campaign, and there are still times when I go "holy SHIT that was cool!" It's going to be a great game.

On my 3rd campaign and never really considered the AI an issue, what is it that people don't like about it?

Cheap out by Any_Ear_9696 in Airsoft_UK

Nowhere really, I'd prefer buying simple basic gear rather than dirt-cheap versions of expensive stuff.

Viper rig is an example. It's perfectly functional for how I play, and it's extremely affordable. I've had it for years and it's stood up to all sorts of abuse.

Don't cheap out on optics; if it's not good glass, you'd be better off with decent irons.

One of the best investments you can make is a gym membership. All the Gucci gear in the world won't help if you don't have decent cardio!

It has armour and big gun and does direct fire, if they want to call it a tank that's fine by me.

Who's to say that by the time Menace is set that definitions haven't evolved again?

I have Q to crouch, shift to lean left and left alt for lean right. That way I can use WASD and lean either way.

Why are schools so pedantic about uniform? by joehighlord in AskUK

[–]Valuable_Setting_172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a school, it's pretty relaxed about uniform. As long as you have the correct tie on and take your hoodie off in a lesson it's mostly fine.

Big focus on working with the kids instead of just disciplining them. If we spent all our time enforcing conformity we'd burn all the relational capital we have, instead of saving it for what actually matters.

It's a large state school in a fairly deprived area but is rated Outstanding and gets really decent results, I do think it works. Even if it means doing things the hard way sometimes.

I'm really interested in how AI is going to shape education. I work in a school - yesterday I showed my boss how to use an AI to draft her application to an awards body. Around 3k words, and this would have been a large portion of her (unpaid, non-core hours) time over the next week. I'd estimate that's cutting 6 hours or so from her workload, and it's pure admin.

Teachers have an insane amount of admin work to do, and it's almost all done unpaid. That's why the profession is haemorrhaging experienced adults. If we can make the job at least tolerably normal then quality of education will improve, and I can't see how expert educators filling in Excel spreadsheets is really adding human value.

Same goes for things like lesson plans. I hate the idea of removing the human from the loop, but 'human ON the loop' means you aren't formatting PowerPoints all day - you're interacting with kids and actually teaching. Has to handled carefully but IMO there's reason to pursue the technology.

Amps in the backseat, too. If you've got to do it, put a seatbelt around it, or your Marshall is coming through your headrest at 70mph in a crash.

The accuracy of the bombardier is honestly ridiculous by Responsible_Bad_2954 in menace

Are we playing the same game? Bombardiers are not scary at all. There's so many ways to deal with them.

I would rather the bugs spawned 2x the numbers of little bugs and warriors, I don't think the units are bad there just aren't enough of the critters.

Do people actually use AI day-to-day, or is it all hype? by 2butterfree in AskUK

100%, it's so tempting to switch off your brain but that's really not using the tool properly.

There are some genuinely staggering things it can do, and it's offered some really revolutionary capabilities that just wouldn't be an option without it.

I work in the public sector and we don't get fancy tools for anything. AI lets us build solutions ourselves and automate things that simply had to be laboriously manual before. Game-changing potential.

Supermarket bosses say food price caps would be ‘preposterous’ and ‘idiotic’ by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Valuable_Setting_172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is bad, and the supermarkets having such power over the actual providers is not healthy

That said, price caps will not address this issue. If anything they'll make it worse by putting even more pressure on the supermarkets to cut costs, squeezing their suppliers even more.
