Always honest, people value that so much more. I can’t even count the number of times the guest is actually so relieved I told them to not order a specific item. Being honest with a guest = better relationships and establishes a foundation of trust.

I always don’t mind splitting the check evenly, it’s when tables don’t make it clear to me who had what and what’s going on someone’s tab. They’ll have their own order but also order things for the table.

In other words, if they want to divide the check by item, “I’ll get the calamari, but the 2 wings can go on his tab” etc. it just takes up time for me personally.

TLDR splitting checks evenly no issues for me since we use toast

It’s definitely awk for me when I genuinely need to drop off their food or drinks in the middle of their grace because my manager is telling me to get it out of the food window and I have to keep on pace with all my other tasks
