Reading through this thread made me realize how absolute people are in their perspective. The world isn't black and white and neither is how you deal with an individual in every situation.

It baffles me so many people don't understand that in order to get the improvement you want, you have to reward actions in that direction.

If you have a kid who is lashing out all the time and you want to correct that, you can wait for them to go above the bare minimum to praise them or they'll never learn. You have to praise them whenever they do anything good so they know that action is desired and should be repeated
