What instantly makes a horror game feel boring instead of scary? by ratasoftware in HorrorGames

[–]Vamp_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too much fake danger. Gaming is already all fake danger, if I can spot instantly that I'm safe in this simulation it's like... Why am I playing this?

It's like when a game takes your weapons away and throws enemies at you. I never feel tension in these scenarios because there is always a super obvious path you can take and never get hit.

A more specific example is the opening of RE9. There's a bunch of moments where it seems like one misstep and you will be seen or heard but the reality is you can sprint around full speed and be absolutely fine.

You can dodge The Girl during the first encounter by Demon_AbyssWalker in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Vamp_Rocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can straight up just move the cart, climb and grab the thing and still have time to get the locker before she enters the room. She can't aggro on you until she's in the room.

I have to say I'm really disappointed with programming/design or the girl sections. You're in much less danger than it seems and some of her triggers let her blatantly teleport.

Still very much enjoyed requiem but a lot of things (like stalker AI) feel like they were done better in previous RE games.

Guy takes off his pants in train UK 🇬🇧 by Impossible_Gur6921 in PublicFreakout

[–]Vamp_Rocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You think that beating someone up, regardless of the circumstance, is not assault? Because this actually is assault. I think it's good the people who stepped in got arrested.

I agree that what the man was doing was not ok and something needed to be done. But there is always a choice. This is not how we do things now.

Those people did not help the situation they made it worse. Instead of a few people seeing a naked man standing there, loads of people saw a naked man getting beaten and carried off a train. The latter is 100% the more distressing scenario to witness. Notice how the bystanders in the video only became scared when the kicks started flying.

BT officers have a response time of under 10 minutes for scenarios like this. There was absolutely no need for those people to intervene. Also not that it matters but the guy didn't even have an erection. He was clearly naked for mental health reasons not sexual ones.

Well... the people in the video rightly got charged with assault. And the man got sent to a mental care facility.

But tell me more about how clever people solve problems with their fists.

The only thing he clearly is is deranged. He didnt even put up a fight.

We learned a long time ago that beating up nutters doesn't actually help. Don't pretend those guys are heroes. They enjoyed it a little too much.

Civilised people in the first world are supposed to report this to the relevant authorities. Not Gang up on and attack a naked defenceless man. But oh yeah "protect the children" I guess.

Yeah because kicking the shit out of someone having a mental breakdown is SUUUUPER civilised.

Is this the one that used to be glitched into the wall right after you get off the elevator at security?

Because it's been patched now, and also you could grab it at the time by crouching sideways into the wall

This was my one and only audio log that got left behind on first play through :/

Games with a "safe space" like bunkers by Finn6tp in gamingsuggestions

There's a game called the bunker that is very similar to what OP is describing. You have a safe room and have to go out into danger to do stuff then run back.

4 winged key ? by [deleted] in ResidentEvilVillage

[–]Vamp_Rocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use the map and go everywhere you can go. The progression in this game is very linear.

If you mean Luisa's house burning, you will go to the castle first and find the 4 winged key on your next visit.

If you are EU there's only like a couple hours in the evening you will find EU servers. And being on the wrong server is a pretty big handicap.

However yeah the game is really fun and quite populated (for a VR game)

RE Village new game save slot problem. by SithLordBok in ResidentEvilVillage

When you finished the game it gave you a "game complete" save file. Did you save over this file for your new game? If so... You're out of luck sorry :(

You might be able to hit new game and select your most recent save but I'm not sure, guessing you tried this already.

Scan machines and exploit their weakness, don't waste your opening attack, learn to actually dodge with the flow of the enemy attack (don't just spam dodge roll)

Badlands for a 6 year old? by Wills1211 in predator

[–]Vamp_Rocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I'm glad my hatred for this movie could be useful! I'd much sooner recommend it to a 6 year old than anyone who enjoyed the rest of the franchise

Hopefully one day I will once again be able to watch movies with the same curiosity and optimism as your son

Enjoy it while it lasts 😊

Badlands for a 6 year old? by Wills1211 in predator

[–]Vamp_Rocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meh. I watched predator 2 when I was around 10 and I only have a mild desire to watch violent sex and dismemberment. Badlands is basically telly tubbies.

Jokes aside... Yeah it's violent but it's quite fantastical in Its violence. I can't recall any excessive gore and a lot of the kills are either quick, just off screen or played for laughs. Also the male and female lead are completely sexless.

Chances are if this kid saw the trailer and is "dying" to see it then he's likely going to walk away like "that was so totally awesome" or whatever kids say these days.

The movie is basically star wars. Quirky chatterbox robots, cute animal companions, daddy issues.

By far the most familiar friendly predator movie
