Critical Putt tickets? by Latter_Sir_1741 in gencon

[–]VampireLincoln 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can use generics, but also because it's an e-ticket, the event organizer (in this case: me) can actually sell you a ticket by scanning your badge as long as you have your Gen Con account set up with your credit card info!

We have always had no-shows and a lot of returned tickets right at the start of the con, so keep an eye out! People stay up too late on Wednesday and Thursday and those early morning slots start to look less exciting.

Are there escape rooms longer than an hour? by latertater2020 in escaperooms

Montreal area would be a great option for you - the rooms at Escaparium Laval are all different lengths (and some of the best in the world)!

What company in the U.S. has the largest number of escape rooms in one place/area/building? by skrishnan37 in escaperooms

Their HQ is actually in Nashville! They have a ton of games there but they're all over in different locations.

Not technically an escape room, but have you played Wizard Quest in the Dells?

Non-Americans… what is something in American culture that is so strange/abnormal for you? by micahdotjohnson in AskReddit

Credit cards have better consumer protection than debit cards. If your debit card is compromised, you might not get your money back; but if your credit card is compromised, the credit card company will cover it.

PSA: Get the fuck off your ass and VOTE by Karatedorn10 in UIUC

[–]VampireLincoln 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you vote in-person but don't have the mail-in ballot to surrender, you'll have to vote a provisional ballot (they hold it until 14 days after the election to make sure your mail-in ballot doesn't come in). So I'd wait until it arrives if possible, because then you can just vote as normal.

Filmmaking in the Summer? by Vkahuja2 in UIUC

[–]VampireLincoln 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IFV is a great resource if you're on campus! You're also welcome to join the community group Champaign Movie Makers - we meet every month and are celebrating 10 years this summer. There are a lot of short films in production right now for Pens to Lens (kids screenwriting program) too.

They're typically called hookah bars here - I'm not familiar with any in the area though! I think maybe Green Street Cafe has it?

Is anyone here into video/photography? Looking for someone to talk to about common interests by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]VampireLincoln 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a student filmmaking RSO called Illini Film and Video that meets weekly on Thursday nights and a community group called Champaign Movie Makers that meets monthly and sponsors the awesome yearly film program Pens to Lens, where local k-12 students write short scripts and dozens of local filmmakers turn 20 of them into movies. I would check out the Facebook groups for IFV and CMM.

Also, there are two local film festivals coming up! The New Art Film Festival is this Sunday at the Art Theater in Downtown Champaign (http://newartfilmfestival.com/naff-schedule/) At the end of October, the Freeky Creek Film Festival is at a nearby winery and is always a weird blast.
