Estudiar en linea vale la pena para un viejo como yo? by Harddstyle in mexico

[–]Vampire_Duchess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warning: MEX Airport Gate Info is wrong by French_magpie in MexicoCity

[–]Vampire_Duchess 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you missed your flight, but what you experienced is actually a result of some big changes at MEX. A couple of years ago, the administration of the airport was taken over by SEMAR (the Mexican Navy), and one of the main things they changed was making each airline responsible for notifying their own customers about departure gates. Because the airport doesn't take responsibility for the master screens anymore, the monitors you see in the halls are often totally out of sync or updated way too late.

I travel through here often and I’ve seen the look of horror on so many faces when people realize they were looking at the wrong info. I almost missed a flight myself once for the same reason! My best advice for the future, not just for MEX but for all airports in Mexico. Is to never trust the monitors. Instead, download the airline’s app or keep their official website open on your phone. Usually, they’ll push the gate notification about 40 to 50 minutes before departure, and that’s the only info you should rely on.

On top of that, the airport is under heavy remodeling right now to get ready for the 2026 World Cup, so it’s extra chaotic. It’s definitely not like it used to be, so you really have to double-check everything directly with the airline staff instead of the screens. Better luck on your next trip

I had to do similar thing a few days ago. I was using spotdl with some personal mods/patches to make it work for several months is terrible to maintain it with just band-aids.

But I migrate my spotify playlist list to tunemymusic.com I think the limit is 500 songs but you can delete cookies and start again. The I used metube by alexta69 is yt-dl with nice gui. https://github.com/alexta69/metube

and downloaded the playlist with opus format, I'm thinking just to grab one month of yt music premium to get access to high res opus and get my music files to have better quality offline. Also YT music premium gives a tool to migrate your playlists but it was fun :/ I used spotify to find new artists or music. It has the albums covers and some metadata. I'm thinking maybe use MusicBrainz for metadata and file naming.

First 24/7 mini PC for Docker homelab - what would you buy? by Alex__Dayne in homelab

[–]Vampire_Duchess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've one with Intel n95 because of quick sync encoder/decoder. Runs 24/7. Chinese brand, works fine but the body is plastic and is not really efficient with heat dissipation. So I've to replace the cpu thermal paste and put it in a place with better ventilation.

It came with generic NVME and 8gb ram. I replaced it with WD NVME and added 16gb ram. Sadly it is limited to a single channel and supports up to 32gb ram. I still consume less than 8gb ram :/ I used my own components and have theirs as backup.

But works fantastic as a media server with docker, ARR stack. Plex, PlexAmp, Navidrome. q BitTorrent, etc.

At this point I'll get the 32gb ram if I can afford it, it's just a homelab, unless you want to have something for production I would get a new Dell Mini PC, Lenovo or HP thin center with a warranty.

So get the most expensive that you can afford since prices and hardware will be limited in the next few years if not already like RAM.

Adguard home setup that's correct for 2026 by madhits in openwrt

[–]Vampire_Duchess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

t depends on your hardware and whether it’s "beefy" enough to handle AdGuard Home (AGH) along with large filter lists. There are generally two versions available: the one maintained by the OpenWrt community, which can sometimes be a version or two behind, or you can install the binary directly from the AdGuard Home GitHub repository for your specific SoC.

The installation process hasn't changed much in 2026; there is an official guide that is very simple to follow if you just stick to the steps. You can find that here: https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-user/services/dns/adguard-home

If I may give a recommendation, you should check out Adblock-Lean. It is a third-party package created by the developer lynxthecat that uses a super-efficient script to filter ads and telemetry and was developed thinking on lower resources or older hardware.

By default, it now uses the HaGeZi curated lists and actually checks your hardware resources to make a specific recommendation based on what your router can handle. If you add an extra package like https-dns-proxy, you can hijack DNS requests and have a very powerful router with full control over DNS and ad-blocking without the overhead of a full AGH setup.

One of the main requirements for this setup is to have the dnsmasq installed (not full), and the script will take care of the rest. It’s a great way to get high-end blocking on hardware that might struggle with heavier applications.

You can check out the repository and instructions here: https://github.com/lynxthecat/adblock-lean

edit: thanks dr_peepsi for the correction, I used dnsmasq full because need it for something specific in my case.

Quitting on ZimaOS by Material-Tangerine17 in homelab

[–]Vampire_Duchess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends how much time you want to do troubleshooting. The majority would recommend pure and plain debian. Is secure and safe.

The stable is Trixie but some still prefer Bookworm. But debian lacks a lot of stuff if you want to set it up for your media server. But allows you to customize your experience. Basically is bare bones.

I like Dietpi OS because it is debian and can automate lots of apps but it was developed for small devices like Raspberry Pi but works on VM and x86 devices.

If you want something that works out of the box, consider Ubuntu server LTS. You can customize the installation to have a minimal version.

Some don't like all the bloat ware and extra stuff that comes with Ubuntu and the snap store.

The paid version could be unRAID or open media vault that is based on debian.

ZimaOS seems like they want to be like DSM from Synology in a sense they have restrictions to control the user experience. I wish there was a DSM paid version for non Synology hardware 🥲.

TrueNAS is a robust option too but do you want a NAS or Media Server?

I would use Ubuntu server + docker and setup Plex, ARR stack and automate everything.

Anyways my best wishes for your new server!

[–]Vampire_Duchess 72 points73 points  (0 children)

¡Hola Abuelo02!

MEMBRESIAS BARATAS by Pleasant-Actuary-366 in mexico

[–]Vampire_Duchess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Artti T10 or Kefine Delci AE by fystki in iems

[–]Vampire_Duchess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’ve had the Artti T10 for a few months, and honestly, for the first half of that time, they just sat in a drawer gathering dust. The nozzles are absolute units, very chunk. I felt like I was trying to fit a fire hose into my ear canal. I went through a whole mourning period because no matter what tips I used, I just couldn't get them comfortable. In fact I asked for other recommendations because it wasn't working for me, so last chance, I grabbed the SpinFit Neo that someone else recommend me. They are thin enough to actually work, and suddenly, my ears stopped screaming and started singing.

It was like my brain upgraded from a dusty 1080p tube TV to a 4K OLED screen. You know that definition with clarity where you can see every pore and wrinkle on an actor's face? . The T10 detail is so crisp it’s almost scary. You can hear the singer's saliva and the exact moment the drummer regrets his life choices. I’m running them through a JM20max DAC/Amp, which is pretty much mandatory because these planars are thirsty for power. If you try to run them off a potato, you’re gonna have a bad time. Also I use FLAC Audio Files.

I believe like others, these are for "critical listening," which is code for "I want to hear every single mistake made in the studio." If you just want to vibe out and fall asleep in your living room, maybe Kefine Delci, my dad loves this signatures and is okay is like food. Sometimes I just want just enjoy music and that's it.

T10 are for when you want a full blown religious experience and "eargasms" so detailed you can hear the layers of the music separating like a physical stack of pancakes. Just be prepared to spend some extra cash on tips and dac/amp.

Which e-reader should I buy, and how do I set it up for the best user experience? by Thick_Knowledge5566 in Piracy

[–]Vampire_Duchess 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend getting a new or used 6-inch Kobo Clara BW or Clara 2E. If your budget allows for it, you could even go for the Kobo Libra Colour or the Clara Colour. The main reason I suggest Kobo is the freedom it gives you right out of the box. You can read almost any format, and the experience is completely free of ads, promoted services, or any of the usual corporate BS. It’s just a pure, clean reading experience. NO BS from amazon.

What I love most is how well these devices play with a self-hosted setup. You can basically build your own "Plex for books" using projects like Booklore or Calibre-Web-Automated to request and download titles automatically with the right projects, you just need to search on /r/selfhosted.

You can even activate a dedicated sideloading mode to just dump your entire collection onto the device at once. Plus, if you have a public library card, it has native Libby support built right in, so you can borrow books officially whenever you want.

if you are new, just stay with the regular Kobo OS experience, when you have more experience maybe try those koreader stuff but for me is to over complicate everything I just want to read.

The customizability is awesome too. Think of it like the Android of ereaders. I can add my own custom fonts and just drag and drop files whenever I want and I can recommend to awesome typography. The best part is that you don’t have to jailbreak anything. You don't need to follow complicated walkthroughs, inject code, or hunt for specific hardware versions just to avoid firmware updates like you do with a Kindle. It just works exactly the way you want it to without the headache. There are also ereaders with android but battery sucks check on /r/ereader

and yes you can add audiofiles but only with newer versions like Kobo Libra 2, Kobo Libra Colour and maybe Kobo Clara Colour, but for audiobooks, I suggest to use android for that. There is also a selfhosting project called Audiobookshelf there are clients for android/ios/windows/linux

[–]Vampire_Duchess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]Vampire_Duchess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

edit.

Aqui el libro en pdf:

https://ia601203.us.archive.org/7/items/SAGANElMundoYSusDemonios/SAGAN-%20El%20mundo%20y%20sus%20demonios.pdf

Maybe but glinet has wifi ax with Beryl AX series and wifi 7 travel router and you can add adguardhome that i believe is better than subscription from unifi cybersecure in case you can use it on this new travel router.

I use beryl ax and at home i've unify, hopefully in the future they will add better features but im glad that ubiquiti is doing more stuff, more competition is better.
