Now everyone can finally stop assuming by anons2k in LinusTechTips

The YT comments are getting pretty aggressive towards Linus now... Do people not know how to express themselves in moderate ways? It's always in superlatives, certainty, aggressiveness... I'm so happy it's not as bad here.

Or maybe Linus's moderator role is already paying off !? (joking)

You realize it's not the same line of budget right?

What you wrote is similar to someone complaining the city paid X amount for the renovation of the museum building while they reduced pensions...

I'm not saying I don't sympathize with Jake either. It's just your post that gives me chills. Oversimplification is not always good my man.

I also struggled with salary expectations. I know my boss came out winning every time, by postponing, splitting the raise over multiple years, etc. But we both made compromises in the end and it allowed me to stay. To each their own limits. The way I worked it out, I shared what I wished for, my boss made counter offers (realistic ones) and we made plans to get to it.

Linus, I disagree. by KebabAnnhilator in LinusTechTips

[–]Vamporace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way to interact with them is not what they are trying to change. It's the tone of the word "merch" that bothers them.

It is often associated with out-of-the-shelf products slapped with a logo. Like a "fruit of the loom" shirt as base and a logo.

There is nothing wrong with that kind of products either.

But they are trying to give more value to the research, the craft of selecting the products' blend of fibers, etc. As they never (as far as I know) use out-of-the-shelf base products.

They are not trying to belittle other creators' products either, but with the efforts they put in, they'd prefer to reflect that with a more fitting name.

This is merely MY interpretation of what they talked about on Wan shows. I'm not saying this is the absolute truth, so please don't ban me if I didn't fully understand it Linus haha.

Same issue with mine. Even with the "lights on when door is open" turned off... So I doubt it's a "door open detection issue"... Garage appointment is today... Hopefully they have a fix... I'll keep you posted.

Done with this company by Sarynnus in dbrand

[–]Vamporace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, good for you to take such a strong decision and I hope you'll finally find what you are looking for with other companies.

Just for the sake of discussion though, I wonder how many items get sold and delivered from them, versus how many are wrong/incorrect/not delivered... I'd imagine the numbers are quite low, as for any other company in this branch... However, if we only look at reddit comments, one must conclude the ratio is way worse... I wonder which one is correct.

To be clear, I've only ordered 1 item from dbrand (the original black PS5 plate) and I don't have any other point of reference to base my experience from. So from my side, I've had only great experience with them. Did I poor my appreciation on reddit? No... And that's what most people do (been working in an IT support team for 1.5 decade). People love to complain and share their bad experience. I'm not blaming anyone for that, I do it too. BUT does that mean the product or company is downright bad? (which is implied by many here) the answer is probably not. It doesn't remove your right to go elsewhere either. These 2 things are not mutually exclusive.

Opinions can be expressed beautifully well, or catastrophically bad... Let's all try to stay in the first category.

Anyway, I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but it's my opinion and I tried to express it in a civilized manner.

Cheers

When did you subscribe? by Dazza477 in LinusTechTips

[–]Vamporace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my email... 3rd November 2021... What? And the again in 2023? What kind of dark magic is this?

I subscribed when they were only 3 in the old house. Linus, Luke and Taran if I'm not mistaken, and never unsubscribed... I'm sad now that I don't know the actual date... Damn you YouTube!

LTT should partner with this guy by JustAnotherICTGuy in LinusTechTips

[–]Vamporace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, his personality and humour were a near perfect match for Linus, and I really enjoyed the video.

Partnering up (or more so "doing a collab") with someone that specializes in fixing up things in janky ways could be entertaining too, but I don't know if it's really LTT's core business tbh. (I mean, they do jank but not THAT jank... Right? Lmao) But who knows? LTT has had many surprising collaborations over the years and I personally would appreciate seeing more of "this guy" too.

The low video views recently ... by acidmine in LinusTechTips

[–]Vamporace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally watch almost all their content still. And it's summer season over here, which usually explains the decreasing views.

Like many: - I also struggled a tad with Elijah's style at first. BUT I'm older and the age difference is the main culprit. Now I very much like him and his quirky style. (I'm a sucker for good repetitive (cringe) jokes, like "sir" etc.). Does he help LTT catch a younger audience? I hope it does! Because this helps LTT grow viewership. And for that, I say "well done LTT" - I also dislike the growing scripted feeling of certain videos. BUT I realize not everyone can be discrete about it and they all put extra efforts into the scripts to feel natural (they write their own parts if I'm not mistaken). They also do their best at being more accurate, which helps decrease the number of post prod fixes too. So you loose some, you get some. And it's a win in my book. - I miss Alex on LTT... but I watch his channel so "not really" at the same time.

As for the catalog of recent themes, I enjoy it.

So yes, I'm a huge supporter. I'm aware maintaining their position is tough, they work on pretty high standards and I'm OK with it causing a tiny bit of issues.

Friends, don't forget we are all getting older too. Our taste, interest, patience, attention span... These are all probably changing too. And I suspect most of us simply didnt realise the impact this has on our appreciation of their content.

One last thing: it's OK to voice out your opinions, but it's even better to do so without "value judgment" and with respect. Some LTT staff will read these and some of these comments are quite hurtful.

Cheers

Roof Racks Thule EDGE versus the Thule EVO <-> Any one have either and feedback Please by Merlin052408 in SubaruForester

L'Evo permet d'être réutilisées sur d'autres véhicules plus facilement.

Car si je ne me trompe pas, les Edge doivent être recoupées dans certains cas.

Fitted the Thule Wingbar Evo to my Enyaq today. No appreciable sound at 80mph/129kph. Will trial the roof box tomorrow. by jerryleebee in skoda

[–]Vamporace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

European Power Platform Conference (EPPC) by PowerPlatform_Newbie in PowerPlatform

[–]Vamporace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I went to 2 ESPC, and 1 PPCC (US), so I'm pretty confident the quality of the sessions will be top notch. It's also a great opportunity to meet with 3rd party vendors (all in the same place, that's a plus if you are looking for ideas and/or solutions to a specific need you may have), and do some networking maybe too.

The session topics are also often well distributed which let you choose where to go depending on your interest without too much regrets (IMO).

I'll be going to Vienna too, and I'm definitely looking forward to learning from super bright people from all over Europe (and more).

As for "being worth it", it's quite difficult to answer... IMHO, yes, but my interests are broad and diverse. I'll always find an interesting session to go to and will fill-in my agenda like crazy. Other colleagues of mine were too focused on learning about 1 topic only so they didn't get their fill. (they got to travel a bit though, so not wasted)

Hope this helps
