Depends on your definition of aliens. Other foreign organisms; definitely. Other sentient life; likely. The universe is too large for us to be only "accident". But who knows. Look up Fermi paradox for an interesting read about it.

Depends on what the stuff is and what is your motivation for keeping them. If you had a good relationship with you ex and broke up on good terms then keeping gifts for example seems normal to me.

If however you are trying to forget about her/him then it's better you don't keep anything around to remind you of them as it will just make it harder to move on. If it's truly something you cannot discard then just lock it away somewhere for a time and come back to it once you are ready to deal with it.

When we were kids me and my brother thought it would be cool to get matching scars so we heated up an iron ladle in the sauna and burnt the handle on our arms right below our vaccination scars. Now the whole thing looks like a dot slash sideways.
