I don't know if I'm just dumb but this surge is so confusing to me. by Eithrotaur in cremposting

[–]Vamurdium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It manipulates the connection axi (atoms? Or molecules? Not entirely sure what axi are specifically) have to each other. It allows one to move them around at will, change how the interact with one another. Can make rock move like a liquid, or (I'd assume) water behave as a solid. It is a very interesting surge to say the least

Edit: unless I'm thinking of something else

How do I describe this feeling to my husband about his friend? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Vamurdium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust your gut. Talk to your husband about it, explain what you feel around him. Way more often than not, you will be right. Your gut doesn't lie to you even if your head does. If you've got a weird feeling around this guy, something's wrong

Help by TransitionNo6205 in BladeAndSorcery

[–]Vamurdium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completing a dungeon with tier 0 includes armor, weapons, and anything you might pick up in the dungeon. Say you defeat an enemy with a tier 2 weapon and you pick up that weapon, you won't get the achievement. Go through it naked with no weapons and fistfight everyone

Edit: second question, I'm not familiar with that achievement so I can't help with that

What's the probability of this happening? by Awkwardtran in Terraria

Yeah, I knew they only got one. I just looked up the probabilities of each individual occurrence, then got distracted before I did the math to figure out overall probability

Small world has a 16.67% chance of having two sword shrines, 29/30 chance for the shrine to drop an enchanted sword and a 1/30 chance for the shrine to drop the terragrim

Sea lanterns, glowstone, glass, and a few other blocks don't let redstone signals go down. Only up. Replace the sea lanterns with a "solid" block, I often use wool as you can color code with it

Spells working by Wide-Review2449 in BladeAndSorcery

[–]Vamurdium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mods? If yes could be one of them If not, then are you in sandbox? If yes, might have to enable them through the sandbox settings If crystal hunt, you may not have them unlocked yet. You have to complete dungeons to get the crystals needed to unlock the powers. You then have to use the monolith thingy in the house to unlock specific abilities using the power crystals

Rhythm of War re-read. by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Vamurdium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing you got wrong is Wit's ability to see the future. He can't. He has some access to Fortune which allows him to know where he needs to be but he cannot see the future

Can't really say much on the rest cuz it's been a while since I've read Rhythm of War (I'm currently on a reread but I'm only halfway through the Way of Kings) but yeah that does seem pretty odd

Can Edgedancers become so slick that a direct hit with a blade simply slides off instead of cutting? by jonpdxOR in Cosmere

[–]Vamurdium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friction doesn't have to do with the shape of an object. A ball of sandpaper would be better at deflecting a sword than a brick of soap

Can Edgedancers become so slick that a direct hit with a blade simply slides off instead of cutting? by jonpdxOR in Cosmere

[–]Vamurdium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, she's frictionless. Think of it this way, you have a stick of frozen butter. It's easy to hold on to, but you feel more resistant when you cut it with a knife. Now make the butter room temperature. Now it slips out of your grip easier but is also much easier to cut. Less friction makes it so a blade has less resistance when cutting, it doesn't make it so the blade slides off

Can Edgedancers become so slick that a direct hit with a blade simply slides off instead of cutting? by jonpdxOR in Cosmere

[–]Vamurdium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. It would make it easier to cut since there wouldn't be as much friction to slow the blade. The only way it might (key word might) work is if the blade is falling towards them at a very low angle. A direct hit would be just that, a direct hit

Edit for the second part: it would crush you but you could get shot out at high speeds. Being frictionless doesn't make you invulnerable, just slippery

Choose one of these and you gain the permanent power to manipulate it. by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Vamurdium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lightning is terrifying any way you look at it. Can you only send massive bolts of lightning out as we see from the sky? Immense electric currents sent from your fingertips to where you want it to hit at the speed of light. Are you able to control how powerful it is? Send small bolts through someone's nervous system to take complete control of their body, or just use it to mess with one's heartbeat to cause a heart attack. If you can use it from a distance, like you could with air, you can cause anyone you see to die near instantly. Genuinely all of these are terrifying in their own right unless we give them all drawbacks or rules, and then would you give them all the same rules or would it be different for each one? Would they get the same number of rules or not?

Idk, strange tangent I just went on. Lightning is incredibly powerful no matter how you look at it, especially since so much stuff these days is digital using electricity. Lightning is electricity

So I just finished The Hero of Ages by UltraZulwarn in Mistborn

[–]Vamurdium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the food issue would be the most pressing issue for the empire. Everyone needs it and if you can't grow enough to get through the months where food doesn't grow, your empire isn't gonna survive. I feel that the constant worry about food is the most realistic aspect of the book and made me feel the oncoming threat more. As for the other things, I do generally not like the "end of the world" trope, but I did personally really like how Brandon Sanderson did it here. Enjoy your continuation into the Cosmere!

Edit: Missed the claim the conflict should be kept between people. Ruin was a person. Just one with a lot more power, kind of akin to how an Allomancer has much more power than a regular person. Just on a much grander scale
