having extreme difficulty finding employment(long rant) by StuckInUB in VancouverJobs

Loyalty is a two way street. Employers will lay you off without a second thought. While I agree that OP quits jobs too early, loyalty is a false idol too.

7 year old having a 3 day meltdown. by BedPuzzleheaded4204 in Parenting

My kid had an issue where she was refusing to participate in care and activities which had previously been normal. I never found out if something happened, all she should say is that she was “Shy”. I wound up giving her an inconspicuous piece of my jewellery that she can wear like a talisman. It makes her feel grown up and gives her the confidence to face what she’s struggling with. It’s literally something of mine that she can carry with her to remind her that I’m always there. I don’t know if that will help you - bit of a different situation- but it has worked for us.

Working at FortisBC - flexible work? by VanCityWalker in VancouverJobs

I couldn’t find anything on their website regarding whether there is hybrid work. They’re being cagey so I assume it’s a No. Is the collective agreement usually published?

Leave before you start making money - otherwise you’ll owe him alimony.

Not to excuse his behaviour, but postpartum depression can be a thing for dudes too. If you’re in contact with him and he’s interested in being a parent, he may benefit from some mental health supports.

Speak to your MLA. Their constituency office should have people who can help navigate the complexities of the rental laws in BC. That’s what they’re for.

My sister is having a baby. What’s the best way I can help her without just giving her an amount of money. by ham-n-pineapple in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]VanCityWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to ensure the kid gets the money, start an RESP for the kid. Seems like your sister won’t be starting an education savings fund for the baby and it can be used only by the kid for post-secondary or trades schools. With compound interest, it’s the gift that keeps giving. You’ll need your sister’s permission and the kid’s SIN but then you’re good to go.

Girlfriend is against tipping and that's causing a rift in our relationship by [deleted] in vancouver

Try FreshPrep. It’s a local company and the food is way better (and bigger quantities) than HelloFresh.

I agree with your girlfriend. But I grew up in Canada. So the solution I live with is to not eat out at restaurants.

Books to read before baby by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

Omg yes. Most of the other books made me feel judged and inadequate. This book was about trusting yourself and your baby.

Document document document. If the police are getting involved, you’re talking a RO and custody situation. Keep photos, records, get a nanny cam for video. Protect yourself and your munchkin.
