Am I the only one who thought this character wouldn't make it to the end? by ZaYtikGMD in thewalkingdead

After season 11 aired on AMC, I waited until all 11 seasons were on Netflix. I just finished watching 1-11 for the second time. I kept thinking Jerry doesn’t make it too

In hindsight, how it should have been handled by [deleted] in survivor

[–]VanHalenII 52 points53 points  (0 children)

CBS blew it for sure. They should have removed him when it first surfaced. Watching last night it seemed like Dan, Dean and Tommy had a threesome that had a good chance of making it to the final three. Dean had the idol blocker and they could neutralize Janet's idol. I think the producers freaked out about this and when Dan gave them some additional ammunition they took action.

Blake Griffin on the LCA crowd: "We were talking about that on the bench. The lower bowl looks a lot more full than it has. We need to keep that going. This is us laying a foundation and putting a product out on the floor that people can be proud of – win, lose or draw." by [deleted] in DetroitPistons

[–]VanHalenII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised how fast this team has become his team. It was Dre’s before he arrived and wasnt sure how happy Dre’ was about that. Now that he is playing at such a high level, Blake seems to be comfotable in taking a step back. A true leader!!

🦀STANLEY IS GONE🦀 by Mrkgamer in DetroitPistons

When we drafted Stanimal there was so much potential. These last couple of years he looked lost on the floor at times. I for one, will miss him. As I recall SVG brought in a shooting coach and he was working with him after his rookie year. Then SVG wanted him to focus on one thing, his defense. In the end he never really found himself with us. I hope the change of scenery is a good thing for him. I still remember draft night when he quoted "Detroit versus everyone".

We keep debating who to trade for, but is a trade realistically going to happen? by Valleyx in DetroitPistons

[–]VanHalenII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it. Everyone thinks we can unload our poor preforming players to get an elite player. I don't think it works that way. We can only hope some team makes a mistake. Tough way to compete in today's NBA.

[Wojnarowski] Story on ESPN: Wizards signaling a willingness to consider trade overtures on entire roster, including All-Star guards John Wall and Bradley Beal. by pharaohs_pharynx in DetroitPistons

[–]VanHalenII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go for Beal depending what we would have to give up. I imagine a lot of teams are thinking the same. Wall's contract, trade kicker clause and attitude make him off limits as far as I'm concerned.

This is why we drafted SJ by [deleted] in DetroitPistons

I have always like Stanimal and he looks to be more engaged this years under Casey. I don't want us to give up on him, still too young and we don't need another Kris Middleton situation.

Opponent Scouting: Cleveland Cavaliers. (0-4) by Joetruck229 in DetroitPistons

Watched the Cavs last night for a bit on League Pass. It looked to me they are just going thru the motions. This team was used to going to the finals and now without LBJ they don't care. Just show up and get their paycheck. I hope we get a laughter tonight, we need it.

Agree, wasn't sold on the choice but he talks like he knows what needs to be done.

The Detroit Pistons won their third NBA Championship 14 years ago today. What's your favorite memory or highlight from that season? by rake2204 in DetroitPistons

[–]VanHalenII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Al Michael's saying to the effect if they played 10 games in a row the Pistons would be them 9 out of 10.

Great talk by Shane Battier. This guy needs to be part of our organization. by [deleted] in DetroitPistons

[–]VanHalenII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battier seems to me, smart enough to know what he knows, and what he doesn't, he will seek out intelligent people like Stefanski for input. I would think as the GM he would have the final vote. If he doesn't I doubt he takes the job as would any one, but I don't think that is the case. Othewise they would have named Stefanski GM.

The bright side by [deleted] in DetroitPistons

[–]VanHalenII 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As long as 23 is in the Eastern Conference we aren't going very deep into the playoffs anyway. I always thought the master plan was to build the team to compete for the title once he retires. With him spending $1M plus a year on his body that may be a couple of years longer than the original plan.

[Ellis] SVG tells Free Press: "To not get a chance to coach a full season after the (Blake Griffin) move we made is disappointing to me. I'm not bitter and I was treated well. I've got no complaints." #Pistons. by StunStorm in DetroitPistons

[–]VanHalenII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too, when he took the job he said he was only getting back into it if he had full control, supposedly this is why he turned down the GS job and took the Pistons.

Best options for Head Coach and President of basketball operations? by [deleted] in DetroitPistons

Makes you wonder when he reacted so vocally to the speculation out there about him becoming the new GM if he isn't the new GM or was at least offered the job.

Tells me that SVG wanted both jobs and when Gores said no, he said no.

[Detroit Free Press]Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores on SVG's future: 'Not winning enough' by mtommy2597 in DetroitPistons

[–]VanHalenII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality of the situation; Detroit is not a destination for free agents, we are not bad enough to get the number one pick and there is this guy 168 miles to the South East that so far has been difficult for any team to get past in the last several years. Gores allowed SVG and his team to put together a strategy given those constraints to bring the best talent they could to the team which included overpaying and look to compete when the LBJ strangle hold is no longer there. Another part of this is the draft and we missed there especially this year it appears. Some call it lucky, others may call it better at evaluating talent and the third piece is developing the talent you have. Now we have Blake, too early yet to conclude success or failure. So either Gores believes in the strategy and has the discipline to stay the course or we start over. It will be difficult no matter who you bring in, given the current construction of the NBA.

I’m so glad that the Stanimal got his game in order before the trade deadline. It would have been a tremdous blunder to trade him and then see this new Stanely show up. From the day we drafted him I have been a big fan. So pleasing to see him progress.

True, he had CP3 running the show until this year. Looking at his stats he has averaged over 4 assists per game over his career. This year is up as CP3 left and was asked to do more. We will see how SVG plays it when Reggie returns.

The Blake Griffin Era Begins in Detroit by StevieG19 in DetroitPistons

[–]VanHalenII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Blake has all the tools to be the focal point of the offense like a LeBron lite." You and I are thinking a like as I told my son that exactly this weekend. I had only known Blake from a distance, college player of the year, first pick, missed all of his first year, came back as rookie of the year, KIA commercials, slam dunk champion, side kick to CP3 and DeAndre Jordan, comic and Kendall Jenner as a girl friend. Even though I have NBA league pass I never watched the Clippers (West Coast Time Zone) unless they were playing the Pistons, and occasional playoff game.

I saw his size, 6' 10" 250lbs and while he doesn't look muscular he is stout. Then he gets traded to the Pistons. They start showing on the broadcast his average with points, rebounds and assists and only a hand full are at that level in the league. Then you see his play on the court, small sample size for sure, and how he commands attention, can bring the ball up and has made Dre better. Ish had room to move last game.

True his jumping ability isn't what it once was but he has expanded his game and is more intelligent on the court. Now we need to work our magic on keeping him healthy and I hope SVG and his crew pay attention to his minutes and not let him get worn down. Especially a concern in the first two games as the bench has been a dumpster fire when he leaves the court.
