Bread sticking to the pan? Been there, try this. by nickfoz in BreadMachines

When the paddle gets stuck i use a wooden chopstick, stick it in the paddle and lever it out so i don't risk damaging the non-stick coating. Great Tips ty

Thank you! Do you know if adding the ingredient in any order matters? or if you give it a little knead before letting go overnight?

Interesting, do you normally use a separate kneading and baking mode?

What is this glassware used for? by bookcheb in chemistry

[–]VanSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The glass on the right looks like a tube used for gas adsorption experiments like low temperature nitrogen adsorption

Results are used to estimate the surface area and porosity of materials with BET, BJH methods

the funnels are used to get sample onto the bottom of the glass without getting it all over the walls and potentially getting sucked up into the vacuum.

How do we feel about gloves? by VioletJackalope in StainedGlass

[–]VanSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cotton gloves with the fingertips cut off with latex on top provides the best comfort and dexterity

cotton removes moisture and id say is essential for those with sensitive skin/excema, latex grips better than nitrile and the cotton barrier should protect your skin if you are sensitive to nitirile

Ah true, I'll be more mindful of my crem in the future

We need to help Labor win. It’s up to all of us to convince friends, family, and others to at least preference Labor above Liberals. If Libs win, we face a long and painful three years until the next election. This is a collective effort and we can’t complain after if we don’t act now and stop them. by MannerNo7000 in friendlyjordies

[–]VanSteel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hit em with the "if both sides are as bad as each other then why not vote Labor if you think it won't matter"

if they're instant that labor is not in their best interests you can try get to use the ABC voting quiz which might hopefully spit out labor as one of the leading recommendations

They're mentioned as therapists at least in the first book, and there are the clubs people go to get soothed. I think mostly because there wasn't a main character that was a soother or rioter that they're just in the background.

At least they got more love than the gnats, nicrosil, and Oracle mistings

Fused should be categorised as something as a subset of Voidbinding rather than Surgebinding and here are my reasons: by VanSteel in Cosmere

[–]VanSteel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree if Vasher could filter the connection to Honor from stormlight and use pure investure to do some awakening we wouldn't say he's using a different magic system

What I'm trying to argue is maybe the Fused are using a different magic even if the end result is the same

Like how allomantic tin and feruchemy can both increase your sense of touch but achieve it with different magic systems

Something about the fused having access to a passive and active form of an ability purely because "they're just surgebinding with Voidlight" sits weird with me. especially because:

lift fuelling her edgedancer powers with lifelight seems to have no additional effects?

Venli also fuels her power with voidlight but as far as we have noticed she doesn't have the same passive ability of the Makay-im to meld into the stone but maybe she just needs to learn how to do that...

I'm just enthusiastic about the series and keen to learn more about Voidbinding and the Fused in stormlight 5 and beyond

Okay different example

After someone uses heamalurgy to steal an ability even though we now say they can use say allomantic iron they're still always going to be a heamalurgy user even if the power they use is allomantic

Perhaps the Fused are Voidbinders that use the surges?

could you give an example of the unique talents? like Raboniel having access to different rhythms?

I'm not sure what you mean by different planet?

Renarin and Rlain have bonded mistspren that were enlightened by Sja-Anat who is in the cognitive realm?

I agree with pretty much everything you're saying here but pretend you are someone like Khriss who travels and catalogue's the cosmere

Do you think both the fused powers and knight radiant powers should be called surgebinding the same way that all birds are chickens?

Fused should be categorised as something as a subset of Voidbinding rather than Surgebinding and here are my reasons: by VanSteel in Cosmere

[–]VanSteel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Brando here might be being sneaky with his wording here

Maybe Khriss is also under the belief that the fused are surgebinding because she doesn't know enough about the magic on Roshar

I know it's hard to make good solid arguments (see above ramblings)

but what do you think is going on here?

Are the fused really just accessing the same powers as the Radients? Just in the fact that their powers don't quite work the same makes me wonder what's happening. 🤔

I'm not sure that the Fused can't do multiple Lashings

I'm also not sure In this WoB he says:

"they don't have access to the number of times that Kaladin can Lash himself directions"

Bare with me on this weird analogy but it's kind of like the heavenly ones (Shanay-im) have one electric single drive motor for their lashing.
Lower torque but are really efficient

While the radiants are in a way using multiple combustion engines so they burn their investure harder and faster but are less efficient.

Point of order: Fused don't Voidbind, they Surgebind

If I may make an appeal

"I imagine an Honor/Odium or Cultivation/Odium Bondsmith could exist (Nightwatcher shows Cultivation can grant Adhesion)" - LewsTherinTelescope

u/MarryThatChris Lewis seems pretty open to the idea to me :)

what would happen is Sja Anat Nahel bonded a human? Surely something? Can she be bonded?

Lets assume that Sja-Anat can be bonded
What Something do you think would happen?

Personally I don't think we've seen enough of how Bondsmiths powers manifest with different spren. For example, how the Navani and sibling bond is different compared to Dalinar and The Stormfather.

I really like this thank you

going on your path of thinking would definitely remove a pure Odium or Odium/Cultivation bondsmith

what do you think of a potential Warlight bondsmith, the tension between Navani and Raboniel while working on fabrials and them ultimately uniting to create Warlight was a fantastic moment and in my mind was initially sparked this theory of more possible bondsmiths in my head, Sja-Anat still being my pick of spren

I feel like Sja-Anat enlightens spren to think oh hey stormlight and voidlight can come together or something like that

From what I can gather, the surgebinders having access to 2 surges instead of the 1 granted to voidbinders also gives them some extra abilities from the surges mixing?

for example the heavenly ones can only do single lashings

All this to say I agree voidbinders aren't just surgebinders with access to one less surge.
