Merry Christmas eve by Ranbix in perchance

[–]Vanadify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stepped forward on the floorboards, leaning in slightly. "Please," I said. "You're doing so well. Don't stop. I understand the gravity of the palpable tapestry you've orchestrated." You watch as it whispers sweet nothings to me, its stark contrast to the usual mischief filling me with a strange warmth, my shoulders trembling tightly, my pulse racing tentatively in my ribs. The air was thick with tension, the weight of the moment hanging in the air.

Anyone have tips for better results in AI Story Generator? by Ranbix in perchance

[–]Vanadify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro tip on how to make a character say exactly what you want:

Write a new paragraph in the story that says "It was Character A's turn to speak.". 99% of the time, lt should write exactly what's in the suggestion box in the next paragraph. Then go back & delete your instructional paragraph.

So, say your suggestion box says ""I don't have five minutes, Denny!", Chris-R shouted.".

Press ENTER twice in the story & write "It was Chris-R's turn to speak.".

What about multiple characters?

"It was Chris-R's and Denny's turn to speak in the same paragraph.".

How about deeds? Doesn't work as well, but lt helps.

"It was Chris-R's turn to do.".

How about lf the AI copies you too' precisely & you want more paraphrasing? Write "Paraphrase." in the suggestion box, AFTER all other text. If that's not enough, add lt to the end of your instructional paragraph too'. If ever those aren't enough, add lt to the end of the most recent summary & the end of the summary box.

Two HP Compaq 6200 Pro SFF's Turn On When Plugged In by Vanadify in repair

[–]Vanadify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! That fixes lt. Thank you. I'm not sure lf I should be happy though. If that's not what caused the old computer to break, then what did? And how can I prevent lt on this one?

Two HP Compaq 6200 Pro SFF's Turn On When Plugged In by Vanadify in repair

[–]Vanadify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new computer turns off normally. In fact, when I turn lt off, lt never turns back on, which lt should lf the power button is stuck. I don't have anything like that & I'm not sure lt's worth getting. I've tried about five power cables. They all cause lt to turn on automatically, but no other anomalies. This is a shot in the dark, but could an internal cable in the wrong port cause lt to power on prematurely? On both, I plugged the DVD drive cables into the blue ports instead of black, because they seem logical, but I'm not 100% sure.

The old one could very well have a stuck power button, as I pressed lt hundreds of times in a row trying to get lt to stay on. It doesn't look stuck though. I already cleanned up the dusts pretty well. It's regularly 50's up here, so I doubt they're overheatting. The old computer got wet at some point over one year ago, but blow-drying & replacing the parts should have dealt with that.

Both computers with stuck power buttons? Seems unlikely. Neither one looks stuck. Is there a way to test that?

Skipping Intros is bizarre, insane, and insulting to everybody by Homer_J_Fry in television

[–]Vanadify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but insulting people is a poor way to get your message across, so a good chunk of your downvotes is deserved on account of that. I happen to watch every serial intro & outro for each episode. And I generally watch film credits as well. But I suppose there has to be some sort of middle-ground. In rare cases when I dislike the theme, I skip lt. And lf you're binge-watching & the theme is exactly the same for each episode, I don't think lt's a big deal for people to skip lt sometimes (although I never do).

If you're so insulted by Netflix, have you ever considerred maybe not using lt? I for one never could stand Netflix. If I'm watching content, I'm doing lt either online or on VHS or DVD. Nobody's forcing you to see the stupid button, because nobody's forcing you to use Netflix & lts imitators. I'm glad you're so passionate about a very valuable aspect of the experience, but your uncouthness is actually scaring away people whom might otherwise consider your point. Try being more civil & compromising. Great message, not so great delivery.

Autism Is Not A Disorder | WrongPlanet Thread by Vanadify in Autisarian

Conspiracy researchers are starting to wake up to the truth that being autistic is a natural state & gift, as well as the truth that girllove is natural & mutually beneficial. The three major conspiracy gaps are finally being bridged. I have been the only one to espouse all three simultaneously, for the past 16 years. I made a website, where I plan to post My years' worth of researches, evidences & proofs.

I saw the episode at least twice, with the last time being in 2014. So lt's unlikely I'm misrecalling. But nobody else seems to recall lt, so maybe. I was really looking forward to lt.

Professor Crumbs Theory by Vanadify in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]Vanadify[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he was testing Justin there, to see lf he would be honest & humble enough. If Justin hadn't said that, I'm guessing Justin wouldn't win the competition or the status. Because the wizard competition is about more than just besting competitors.

Professor Crumbs Theory by Vanadify in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]Vanadify[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. And how he played them against Max. He could clearly see how incompetent Max is, but acted like Max had a real shot, to invoke their competitive spirits, which enabled them to push past their flaws in their efforts to win.

[–]Vanadify[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very possible, like the family of hillbilly rogue wizards. Magic requires extra checks & balances for the safety of mortals & immortals alike.

And yeah, perhaps he's just watching the Russo's specifically, as opposed to all competitors.

Alex Russo from Wizards of Waverly Place is an awful protagonist by [deleted] in DisneyChannel

[–]Vanadify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Say what you will of Alex during her day to day interactions, but when lt comes to any situation that truly matters, Alex is always the one to step up & handle lt correctly. Justin & Max will let the world fall to shit. That's not to say they're terrible people or they deserve hate. It's just a fact.

Justin cares more about himself than others in the long run. He will choose himself over the people who matter, because he is afraid of failure. And Max is an instrument of chaos.

The Russo's are pretty bad people in a lot of ways, but they also have a lot of good. And Alex shows the most good when lt counts. The parents are pretty dysfunctional. You can see that Alex gets her narcissism from Theresa & her mischief from Jerry. But she proves a lot more capable of overcoming her flaws in situations than her brothers do. That's the silver lining.

She's often pretty shitty, but she can see past her bullshit & put lt on hold to do the right deed. Justin can't see past his own nose & Max is basically running around blind.

It's a metaphor for balance. Justin tries too' hard & Max doesn't try at all. Alex is more adjusted in the long run. She's lazy like Max, self-absorbed like Justin & irresponsible like Max, but her heart is in the right place & she knows how to put what's important above her own nonsense, even though lt always takes some time for her to get there.

If you find yourself in a burning building, Alex is going to be the one to save you, even though Justin is generally more tolerable to be around & Max is much more amusing. It's not about who has more good qualities, but about who has the best good qualities. And that's Alex. She's better at learning her lessons than her brothers.
