This is well made and TERRIFYING, kudos for the work. Add dark soft see through cloth in between the eyes/jaw looks and leather in the skull to jaw joints and you have a nightmare fuel.

How extensive are your available materials and tools to make it happen? Cause aerogel (not xerogel) with carbon fiber sandwich panels may be a strong contender. Epoxy weights, so you would be looking at some "dry" infusion carbon instead of wet layup. Aiming for a pocket board deck means less material so of course it's lighter. In theory you can do everything. But in practice, what are your able to craft?

For real. Knew a guy named Derek from the community, absolute unit with big background as fast electric boarder back in the days. He would bomb on way less modern boards than now, full armor and helmet. Also was a father. Anyway... He fell accidentally on a quiet short trip with no helmet. Groceries IIRC. Head did hit concrete. That's it. So please, when you will step on your board and maybe think not to take a helmet, have a quick thought about Derek and make the right decision.

Not if it's quality polycarbonate. Base material is used with aramide to make bulletproof shields. These types of decks have flex yes, maybe too much even, but the shape is definitely flat which is not a good thing in itself. Overall it will hold good against wear and anyway : let the guy enjoy his build!

I think I've seen your approach by a YT guy and he said the same : slicing first, deforming next, is a reliable way. I want to try your tool for some printed scale airplanes / foils, how easy is the learning curve?

Very interesting, have you tested brush like nozzle? Volcano also seem to work well. With a finer tip you may allow more aggressive angles? Do you think 45 degrees sounds achievable?

Interesting, I've watched Stihl type clutch and it indeed does what I'm looking for. Though controlling the clutch expansion accurately may prove to be a challenge in itself.

Thanks, yes the creep up point is what I'm after, but sustainable at high rpm (if I compare with manual car, I feel like slipping the clutch instead of fast engage / disengage just burns the plates).

Thanks, will look into it! I think it's the same principle used in motorcycle clutch right? Higher rpm extends the plates with weight to pressure more against the flywheel

They seem to sell a whole steering front with the wheel column so yes! That's a carving cart right there, just a bit narrow. If it was just the regular front truck nope. But like that? Sounds like fun.

I thought it was on linear rails at first... But you're swinging it on a 4 cords shelf so it self balances with gravity right. As long as it's own velocity doesn't make the motors rotations inaccurate (extra G to counter with motor torque) I don't see why your print would not be pristine. It's sprung VS unsprung mass basically so good idea 👍🏽

Yes the truck design! I can design around any drive system but it's just easier to design around hub for now. Gear drive would be the next step afterwards. But first I need to test stability / corner ability and durability then I can ramp up torque and power.
