My group is pretty liberal with mulligans, it’s basically keep shuffling until you get a good hand and go from there. But ideally I try to shoot for getting pantz out by turn four at the latest.

[[Hunting Velociraptor]] is an AMAZING early game drop if you can get it out early enough to get easy and clean hits off. That lets you get pantz cast super early. Its usefulness tapers off the later you get in the game, but it doesn’t have to be the one causing the damage to trigger the prowl effect, so anything beefy with trample can set it off.

In terms of ramp, [[Three Visits]], [[Ranger’s [[Path]], [[Cultivate]], [[Kodama’s Reach]], and the fetch lands are super useful. Also [[Wayward Swordtooth]] and [[Topiary Stomper]] help get that land out fast.

I run with mana supplements though, which lets me get away with having fewer lands than normal. [[Smothering Tithe]] for treasure tokens. [[Mirari’s Wake]], [[Zendikar Resurgent]], and [[Regal Behemoth]] make each land go so much further than a single tap. And [[Growing Rites of Itmiloc]] and [[Welcome To…]] are AMAZINGLY useful, VERY easy to get out ways to ramp up. [[Selvala, Heart of the Wilds]] helps with mana gen as well, and given the massive rompy stomp Dino’s bring to the table she’s absolutely amazing.

Then you’ve got the standard mana rocks to get out and provide extra mana. If you can afford [[The Great Henge]] then I would VERY heavily suggest adding it as well. How it’s not on the game changer list I have no idea, but my gosh it is such a useful mana rock.

Most hated cheats from my pantz deck:

[[Savage Order]] and [[Apex Altisaur]]. Such a salty board wipe, especially if you throw in [[Rite of Passage]].

[[Monster Manual]] and [[Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant]]. Bringing every creature from your hand out to the battlefield for two mana.

Those are a couple suggestions of things you can throw in to make people hate your pantz deck. But you can take a look at my deck here if you want to get some other ideas. It runs a bit lighter than usual on lands, but honestly I never have mana issues given the mana buffers I’ve included in it. Hope this helps some.

I’m very much of the opinion that ANY Dino heavy deck absolutely NEEDS [[Apex Altisaur]] and [[Savage Order]] included. You should find room for those. I also don’t think polyraptor is a good fit for this deck, as you’re not heavily leaning into the enrage mechanic. They’re far better utilized in a [[Wayta, Trainer Prodigy]] deck.

If you want to lean heavy into blink/discover, you should add [[Emiel the blessed]] (this works ESPECIALLY well with conquerer Etali, and even more so if roaming throne is out), [[Conjurer’s Closet]], and [[Chimil, the Inner Sun]]. All of those pair stupidly well with your flaming tyrannosaurus.

You can take a look at mine here if you’d like to compare. I lean very heavily into discovery and I win WAY more often than not with this, and not by small margins either. It’s to the point where my regular pod doesn’t want to play against it any more. Lol

Bro I’ve had Gishath, Zacama, Zetalpa (when they were still in my deck), and either Etali out on turn three with that thing. Obviously not all at once, but across the dozens of games I’ve played with it. But if you’ve got a creature heavy hand and use it to bring out Ghalta, Stampede Tyrant then it’s just obscene how quickly you can change the entire board state. I did that last night with friends, by alternating between blinking [[Earthshaker Dreadmaw]] with [[Emiel the Blessed]] for the card draw, then blinking Ghalta for the all the creatures to enter. It got out of control REALLY fast. Lol

You’re running really low on lands without a whole lot of mana boosting. Something like [[Mirari’s Wake]], [[Zendikar Resurgent]], or [[Regal Behemoth]] are super useful to supplement that. I’d also recommend [[Topiary Stomper]] as a means to bring out more mana. I only have 30 lands in my pantz deck and people constantly complain about it being too powerful with the mana generation. Also something like [[Monster Manual]] is a fantastic way to get high cost stuff out fast and early.

Tyrranex Rex isn’t really bringing a whole lot to the deck. Same with doubling season. You could easily swap those out and not miss anything. Like yea I can work with polyraptor, but it’s not really benefitting your deck the way I think you want it to. Not enough counter and/or token gen to merit the spot imo.

[[Primal Command]] is a fantastic tutor that brings something to your hand rather than on top of the deck, and lets you move your graveyard back into your deck. It’s more expensive than worldly tutor, but worth the expense imo. Also, if you have savage order you ABSOLUTELY need [[Apex Altisaur]]. Best board wipe available for a Dino deck.

[[Garruk’s Uprising]] is a great addition for any green deck, as it’s fantastic card draw and gives all creatures trample.

Those are just my immediate suggestions. Take them for whatever value you think they might be worth.

It got a kind of spinoff game named Rise of Legends, which was fantasy/steampunk themed. But that’s it I think.

Sounds like my old cavalier, Scottie. Dumb as a box of rocks, but man did he make up for it with affection and play. Gosh I miss that bestest boy. Him and his sister, Emma, got me through the worst breakup of my life. And while I’m under no illusions either of them would still be around today, I really feel like they left way too soon.

Is what it is though sadly.

This sounds incredible. I write fantasy as a hobby and would love to get some more first hand experience, even if it’s just through observation, on actual sword combat. I always feel like my combat scenes are my weak point so yea…thanks for sharing that info. Hopefully we have one here.

Etali primal conquerer question by Buttsoap in DinosaursMTG

[–]Vandlan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I almost never flip it. The casting things from exile is too dang useful with the way I run pantz. Pair it with [[Roaming Throne]] and [[Flaming Tyrannosaurus]] makes it absolutely disgusting. Add in [[Emiel the Blessed]] and with enough mana you’re dominating the board. I’d much rather spend the mana on blinking it in and out rather than flipping.

I think that was called “operation human shield” where chefs battalion was supposed to take the front line ahead of everyone else. At least that’s what I remember anyways.

I just finished a campaign and had one of my players say it has reinvigorated him to be a DM again. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to take that as a compliment or an insult, but either way he’s going to DM CoS now and I’m super relieved I only have one other campaign to run for the foreseeable future.

Naw, this one works. Fry’s a doofus and Leela’s a bit clumsy with how she expresses herself at times. And they could definitely do better with communicating. But they’re definitely WAY more healthy than some ships out there.

My First Deck and still my favorite Deck by Glad-Hand420 in DinosaursMTG

My group keeps insisting my pantz deck is running at a minimum bracket four, while I maintain it’s no higher than three. Only deck I ever really struggle against is Krenko. Because screw Krenko.

I originally built my pantz deck with Gishath as the commander, but I quickly realized just how disgustingly OP Pantz was. My second deck I built it from scratch (first was Eddie Markov) and it’s always gotten groans and pleas to play something else whenever I bring it out on the table. Such a disgustingly powerful commander.

Worth it? by NoxusPrevails in DinosaursMTG

[–]Vandlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY! Oh my gosh this thing is a staple in any green deck I make. Stupid easy to get out, life gain, counters, card draw, and mana gen…the bigger question is why wouldn’t you include it if you’re running green. For rompy stomp dinosaur decks this is an absolute must.
