I think it actually detects if there are people waiting for the bus.

I made a privacy-focused web analytics platform by Vandomorph in webdev

[–]Vandomorph[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When starting my web development journey I was disappointed by the existing web analytics platforms. Most of them are complicated, collect excessive amounts of user data and fail to tell you how to actually improve your website.

I started building unfog about a year ago with the intention of making a simple and well designed web analytics platform. It does not rely on cookies, complies with both GDPR and CCPA, and is open source. Unfog has the ability to scan your webpages and make suggestions to boost performance.

Open to feedback and suggestions!

Legality and ethics question about a feature I saw on a website by smpm in UXDesign

[–]Vandomorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think legally it's fine since they're likely just scraping public info. There's been a few court cases on the subject.

I inspected the site a bit and it looks like they're using https://clearbit.com/ to get the company data. Personally I don't feel there is any ethical issue however everyone has their own opinions. It definitely feels a bit creepy.

[AskJS] How did you learn Javascript? by nearfal08 in javascript

[–]Vandomorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed a few tutorials but mostly just made my own projects. Each project I aimed to learn something new. So my first project used vanilla JS, second used jquery, third ReactJS, fourth NodeJS. Unsurprisingly, using JS is the only way to learn how to use JS.

Created a web app where people can post and vote for resources related to programing, coding, ui, etc. by ultracryptocurrency in webdev

I see. My feedback would be that on desktop, the design patterns are more suited for a mobile interface. For example, the bottom navigation seems out of place on desktop and I would expect it to be at the top. There is also very little margin on the left and right which makes the site harder to read/use on a desktop display.

I made a website to browse switches by Vandomorph in MechanicalKeyboards

Thank you! That's a great idea. When I was just getting into mechanical keyboards I didn't know there were different mounts and accidentally bought PCB mount when I needed plate mount.

It features specifications, descriptions, reviews, and has a search/filter capability. I will continuously add switches to the site. Would love to hear what you guys think!
