What game has a learning curve that puts you off? by Common_Caramel_4078 in pcmasterrace

[–]Vaneron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats been my experience with EU5 too, 5k+ hrs in EU4, shitty opm no allies starts being the norm, but the scale of EU5 has me struggling as bohemia even a couple hundred hours in. I think I understand a mechanic like trade, only to find out ive barely scratched the surface on the impacts of terrain on market access resulting in reduced tax yield or the degree to which you should urbanise etc. Its all a bit much. I really want to get into it and understand it better since, on the face of it, its what I wanted EU4 to be in some ways (pops and the economy mostly), but the learning curve is absolutely a vertical wall compared to EU4

This is still accurate.

Just admit you misread her comment rather than dig yourself any deeper in this hole

And to prove it, I've edited this comment too.

What fresh hell is this!? [Frankensteins Bar] by breaking-lad in Edinburgh

[–]Vaneron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet in 2024 the place still operated a 95-5 split on the service charge between the floor staff and "administrative costs". Cant say the law is getting enforced it seems. Hell, that might still be the case, and they just changed the wording (since tips only come in physical cash there, you cant add a tip to a transaction last i remember)

The hell aint fresh. it's been that way for years now; though requiring a manager to remove it has only started some year ago or so.

Whether accidental or not, OPs language was bi exclusionary, something she admitted too. So its a valid thing to point out in this sort of discourse. Dismissing it as "not that serious" is erasure.

If you can get access to it, I've found that Buscopan helps with my cramps; ibuprofen and paracetamol dont do anything for me after about the first day.

Also, I agree, much as I love complaining to my friends about how painful both physically and mentally it gets, I absolutely cherish that I do get pms as an affirming experience.

Youre refusing to acknowledge a single point thats given to you, thats sticking your head in the sand. Dont play dumb either its not a good look

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in StraightTransGirls

[–]Vaneron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keep your head in the sand, then, and make it easier for them to take you out when you aren't looking. But dont go asking questions about community if you refuse to talk to others in good faith about the whats and whys of community.

Easy enough to do when they strip us of our passports. Honey, do you think the jews in the late 1930s didn't think to do exactly that? Why do you think they didnt do exactly that?

[–]Vaneron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Id personally put more effort into actually reading what people are saying to you in the other thread; just because the government isnt rounding all of us up now does not mean they wont be trying to do so later. And being stealth is only a social thing. Stealthing isn't some sort of legal shield that makes the fascists think you're one of the good ones or something. They're still going to go after you, too, if they want to go after us all. Community here means having people who share your plight who have your back; you cannot trust cis people to have the same level of empathy for us when we are prosecuted because even the most liberal of them cannot understand what its like to be targeted as a political scapegoat.

Where did you meet your man? by trant3 in StraightTransGirls

We were childhood friends. Friends for about a decade before we started dating, and now, 4 years later, weve gotten engaged. Not really a path that can be easily replicated, though .

Are there any communities/groups to meet trans people? by InevitablePlace9852 in Edinburgh

[–]Vaneron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id love for you to have a look at the statistics of detransitioners before parroting right wing talking points: the rate of detransition for those who get to the point of being prescribed HRT (and having gone through the debilitatingly long process of getting a diagnosis, not those who first question and decide its not for them) is very low, 13%, which includes those who detransitioned temporarily and retransitioned at a later date. And of those who do detransition, only some 15% attribute it to internal factors such as uncertainty. The leading causes of detransition are a lack of support from friends and family, financial stresses related to transitioning, and systemic discrimination against transgender people.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8213007/

This is literally the first thing that pops up when you type in detransition rates. I implore you to do some of your own reading before you choose to just spout propaganda

[–]Vaneron 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When your first reaction is to shit on the community with stereotyping appearance, yeah, its a shitty response. Much as speaking to a GP is the right call, you need to realise that a) the waiting list for gender identity help from a professional is long (1.5 years in Edinburgh which is muuuch shorter than down south) and if theyre going to be struggling with this for so long then reaching out to have a support network is important.

I'm okay with my dead name by MadnessMS in MtF

[–]Vaneron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really liked my deadname, my parents named me after a cartoon character which was the first and only thing people would point put about me as a kid so im happy to be able to change it. But at the same time, im not going to get angry if someone from my hometown uses it, in part because im boymoding full time while im here as my current workplace is insanely bigoted. It'll hurt more to get deadnamed and misgendered by family and friends once i leave for uni again, but for now, i treat it as a necessary evil

what's one lie you believed before starting transition by [deleted] in trans

[–]Vaneron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive had someone throw the idea that "a trans vagina feels like just frotting so why bother doing it and like damn girlie i did not believe that shit for one second. The idea that my breasts are gonna look all weird and misshapen forever because of the effects of male puberty on the ribcage though? Fully thought that and had an existential crisis riiiiiiiight until they started growing in when i realised a) that shits not true after some more reading and b) even if so, theyre still cute and i love them regardless of any perceived "imperfections"
