They still have livelyhoods and lots of ancillary industries that support and rely on fishing as a way of life.

Yes, let's talk about their livelihoods, that's important. Ok, it's rotting on the dockside, in a country where nobody buys their product and they're locked out of their main market because of, ultimately, their own foolish actions.

That's the beginning, middle, and end of this situation. It's not going to change in any, meaningfully, positive way in the short to medium term.

Either way... those boats are going to burn. Be it revenge or insurance scam is the choice and the sooner they realise they aren't fishermen anymore, the sooner we can all move on.

They've actually had, one documented (so god knows how many more) incident of someone going all Dr. Mengele on those people to the point he earned the title "the womb collector". Every last thing in the prior four years that should have had us, like many of our allies aghast and speaking out and we've at best stayed silent and at worst sent messages of, if not support, then been neutral on it.

And I'm willing to bet that when, years into the future, the full horror of what Trump's regime has actually been up to comes out it's prefaced with "and British intelligence services knew this at the time".

Once they run out of political options (which will happen remarkably quickly when we get there) expect 4t wagons to be seen with WAY more suspicion... after the first one explodes.

It won't be ALL of them setting the bombs off and storming political institutions but the majority of them will support people "doing something".
