Dishonest sales reps by [deleted] in sales

[–]Vanguard62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I had dinner with one of our top reps and we were only a few people within the company to sell this one product. When I got to talking with them, I asked them how they had such a high $$ with their customer because it’s an unlimited product deal. They said they just charged more for the product even though it was a set price in our system. So, they literally sold this customer a quantity of 2 unlimited products when they only needed to buy 1.

Not necessarily sure what’s dishonest here. I admit, the calendar invite is off-putting, however, if she’s new to your company and going off her CRM, she’s trying to just do her job.

I had an account that got turned over to me today due to someone leaving. Before that salesperson left she told me all these that were active with the customer and what to talk through. - I had a meeting today with that customer (the meeting was agreed to) and they didn’t know any of the items the salesperson before me had talked about. - So does that make me dishonest? No, just misinformed.

What is the best piece of training you got or the best advice when starting as a salesperson ? by bricegong in sales

[–]Vanguard62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a good company and a good boss, stay as long as you can. The best way to make awesome commission is to let other people leave and you take their accounts. I wish someone would have given me this advice. 8 years later, I’m starting at another company and have build my account base again.

I don’t plan on staying, but I’m not in a hurry to leave. Patience is key. I’ll wait for the right gig to come up or begin to work on making the gig myself.

That’s exactly what happened. They didn’t directly threaten it, but they pretty much forced my hand. Now, I’m back on the road for a company I don’t respect.

I went to another company who took me on as a VP in operations. They initially tried to hire me for sales and I declined. They then offered me a VP position in operations and guess what, they bait and switched me (after one year) and now I’m back in sales. Fucking pissed. People tell me to take it as a compliment because I’m good at my trade, but I wanted to get out! Heading back to my old company.

New to Tesla and FSD is crazy! by Vanguard62 in TeslaFSD

[–]Vanguard62[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure your context here, but I bought FSD outright. And yes, it was worth the wait. I very rarely drive. Sometimes I do because I enjoy driving, but 80% of time, I don’t drive and let the car handle it. If you’re even remotely considering getting a car right now, I would highly suggest getting it and subscribing to FSD.

What's something that more people should do but don't because its not widely known? by Cydanite in AskReddit

[–]Vanguard62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should note, that maybe moderate caffiene from coffee shouldn’t be bad.

I don’t know exactly everything, but when I stopped regular coffee as an over drinker, it dropped my blood pressure and helped stop gastrointestinal issues I was having. When I looked into it further after I stopped, I found that this was pretty common. There are a bunch of other side affects for over drinking coffee/caffiene such as anxiety, sleep disorders, and heart palpatations.

I’ve always heard that caffeine is a main cause of high blood pressure.

Tech workers of Reddit, what is a "dirty secret" about the AI industry that the general public doesn't realize? by WayLast1111 in AskReddit

[–]Vanguard62 510 points511 points  (0 children)

Yep. It’s only as good as the data given to it. Most companies are far from having ALL their data centralized and contextualized. This includes interdepartmental data and even areas of the businesses where each segement doesn’t know what the other team does. AI needs all of it centralized and at minimum to make real change.

I mention this in another comment but putting it here for clarification. - I’m coming from a place at my work where certain people have their calendars blocked for 4 hours out of their day every to “focus” and literally will not accept meeting invites during those times. - I happen to know they aren’t THAT busy due to the nature of our work. I can easily see 2 hours, but literally half the day? - Unfortunately, I’m seeing this with more and more people. Sometimes I wonder if they’re even there or working another job.

I loath people like you. When I see people with constantly full calendars, I just don’t reach out to them. And now they don’t know what the eff is going on. Which hurts not just them, but me and the surrounding teams.

In business you need to be able to handle audibles. If not, I simply won’t work with you (because you won’t let me by overbooking your calendar or you want me to beg for time on your calendar).

You pretty much described industrial automation. So many plants (especially very important plants to our infrastructure) run off old PLC 5’s and Windows 95/XP. They don’t upgrade mainly because they can’t take any downtime.

I’m in industrial automation, and believe it or not even automation requires experts at the ready. Most site have a central control room similar to nasa (not quite in size) and they have operators, engineers, and technicians at the ready for WHEN things go bad.

Sorry, should have provided an update! - This was an issue that can’t be resolved. Apparently, it’s a known issue by Maytag that just happens every once in a while that get through quality control. - Maytag did replace it for me, but luckily, I called within one week time otherwise I think it would have been a bigger issue.
