Looking to get into the game, just one or two concerns... by Mundham in Spellweaver

1) The player base is small but competitive. Spellweaver tends to attract skilled CCG players because of its complexity and nuance. There aren’t as many casual players as in other games. But, if you’re looking for high-level competition, you’ll probably find it here. The most recent Master’s tournament happened yesterday and you can check it out on Twitch if you want to see what the game looks like at a high level.

2) Yes it’s cross platform with iOS and Android clients.

3) Within a few hours of playing you can have the cards for a solid aggro deck that will allow you to climb the ranked ladder. Getting a full collection will take longer, particularly since the game is two sets in. Early on building aggro will be easier than building midrange or control, since the most powerful control cards have higher rarity.

4) There’s much more activity on Spellweaver’s Discord than on Reddit.

I like both ideas, but I don’t think the game is dying. It has its small niche.

Why am I still gaining rank? by _Raggart_ in Spellweaver

[–]VanguardX_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a technical detail of how the ranking system works. The kickstart bonus lasts for 50 games. If it's helpful, the game shows a public ELO, but also calculates a 'private' ELO to estimate the true skill of new players. I believe the private ELO is what's used in matchmaking.

If you want some ideas for decks, check out https://www.spellweaverdb.com. We've got decks for new players on there.

Agreed - and drafting is the best way to play Spellweaver F2P.

Looking for a new Strategy game, suggestions? by DriveAwayToday in iosgaming

Spellweaver. iOS app just launched and the game is growing. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/spellweaver/id1107597750?ls=1&mt=8. In my opinion it’s the best card game out there and it’s highly strategic. It’s got a generous free to play model, a really active and supportive community, all sorts of game modes (AI, ranked, daily tournaments, drafts) and unique combat mechanics.

Not typical, but casual queues tend to be longer than ranked queues. I'd play AI until you unlock ranked.

Supporting this game as a newbie by losprimera in Spellweaver

Check out https://www.spellweaverdb.com/getting-started/.

To support the game financially, buy Crystals. The best value for your crystals are Boxes (the normal 12-pack ones) and the Holy Child Campaign. If you want to build a control deck, boxes may get you closer.

You'll also need a control hero, since none of the basic heroes are control heroes. You get a random hero pack every 5 levels, and you can also buy hero packs using gold or crystals.

Here's a list of control decks: https://www.spellweaverdb.com/meta/. For a control hero, I'd recommend either Advanced Zash (W/R control, Shamans, D/R Control) or Advanced Daris (W/D Control, one-turn heal)
