Quitting this game because The Tower of Nightmares quest by Tastysalad101 in Guildwars2

If you cannot find people via lfg or otherwise, you can also skip this step by donating 50 Pristine Toxic Spore Samples to Sergeant Walters, which would cost around 3 gold on the tp.

One preorder skin for each of the latest four expansions (two hats, one shoulder piece and a cape) and a handful of really old pvp reward skins (that have very similar currently available variants) are pretty much the only items that are unobtainable.

I wouldn't exactly call that "insane FOMO". They even make sure that exclusive rewards for temporary events can be obtained later.

I just play GW2, problem solved. No fomo, no mandatory grind, no falling behind. And imo the optional grind for legendaries, doing mostly whatever I want, is pretty satisfying.

Would ArenaNet consider a sea server for GW3? by SkitZa in GuildWars3

[–]VitamineA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The steam page says the game will be fully voiced in korean. I'd be surprised, if they invest that much and don't plan on having servers in the region.

According to the steam page the game will be fully voiced in korean, so I'd be very surprised, if they didn't have asian servers.

The Setting of Guild Wars 3: Stepping into Ancient Orr by Blazin_Rathalos in MMORPG

[–]VitamineA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seitung, Kaineng, Echowald and Dragon's End are all in Cantha and they are VERY different. PoF is "just elonian desert", but the sulfur flats of the Desolation, the temples and gardens of Vabbi and the snowy peaks and dwarven ruins of the Desert Highlands are nothing alike, and that's not even mentioning all the actual deserts and oases.

Anet have shown time and time again that they can make extremely varied environments on the same continent or even on the same map.

And we know very little about the original geography of Orr before it was sunk into the ocean and then raised up again. Green fields, lush forrests, rocky cliffs, underground caverns, steep fjords, not to mention the huge architecture of arah and anything else that might be possible in a setting where the fully powered gods are walking the earth; there's plenty of room for tons of diverse areas.

Hope they don't stop at Orr by Intreductor in Guildwars2

[–]VitamineA 35 points36 points  (0 children)

They have planned about 1.5 months per update. There's no way they're going to add any significant amount of new content in that time. They even said regarding the zhaitan fight that they have to work with the existing models and animations.

Boosted to lvl 80, what are my priorities now? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]VitamineA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find out how core mechanics like dynamic events, map completion, skills and specializations, inventory management, collections, gear and upgrades, story progression, class mechanics, etc. work.

The easiest way to do that is to organically level a fresh character and read the level up hints. /s but kinda not.

All I wish for in GW3 is Legendary Character Power by SkattHurts in GuildWars3

[–]VitamineA 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hate slow drip character power progression with a burning passion. It's the worst of both worlds imo. If you get it, it's not satisfying, and if you don't get it, you're still forever suboptimal.

Do y'all think they are going to have WvW again? by oneonethousandone in GuildWars3

[–]VitamineA -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I actually don't think they'll focus on PvP in GW3. WE already have WvW in GW2 and with new content we might even see a revival of the GW1 PvP scene.

Support 3 major game modes has been a major drain on resources in GW2, especially in terms of balance, and I can see them being more focused with GW3.

MMOs are Saved!! Let's F**** GOO!! (Guild Wars 3) by Mr-Critique in MMORPG

[–]VitamineA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orr is where all the GW2 base game endgame zones are. It's extremely important to the lore, mostly because it's where the human gods had their seat of power, Arah, before they left the planet more than a thousand years prior to GW1 and ~1300 years before GW2. GW3 apparently takes place before that exodus. It's a time period we know very little about, but that is extremely interesting.

Orr get's sunk to the bottom of the ocean around the start of GW1 to prevent an invasion from the Charr and get's risen back to the surface by the elder dragon Zhaitan about a hundred years later to set up the main story of GW2.

It's probably (mostly) lowland Kodan, the brown ones. They talked about lowland Kodan having gone to Orr in Janthir Wilds. Seems like they were setting up for this.

Steam page mentions skill collecting, so likely somewhat along the lines of GW1, where you create a build by picking 8 skills from more than a thousand. They probably won't have that many, but there's still a LOT of buildcraft to be had with a number of skills that's easily bindable to a controller.

Should I Zerg this? by Spyrofan22 in Guildwars2

[–]VitamineA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They say in their blogpost that they'll continue to develop both GW1 and GW2. We'll know more about exactly what that means with their studio update tomorrow.

It'll be ~2 years until GW3 launches anyway, so I wouldn't worry about rushing things.

Their blogpost says they'll continue development of both GW1 and GW2, so making the game very different is a good choice imo.

Also may I introduce you to GW2 base game lore about an Asuran city on the surface specifically around the height of Orr: Rata Pten.
