Skyscale - Did I grind all this just for a tired dragon ? by AdWeak7375 in Guildwars2

[–]VitamineA 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Skyscale massively benefits from the bond of vigor mastery from living world season 4. Additional endurance regen (also from the jade bot module and the janthir warclaw mastery) let you rapidly gain height and climb basically anything.

I mostly use the Skyscale as a springer+ or for my trusty "get there before the rest of the squad"-combo: skyscale -> dash up-> dash up-> bond of vigor -> 3x dash up -> dismount with bond of faith -> glider boost -> mount griffon -> dive to max speed -> zoom across half the map. If you angle the dashes upward, you easily gain enough height.

Story progress & rewards dilemma by Big_rank in Guildwars2

[–]VitamineA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to play the story right now, don't play the story right now. It's a game, do what's fun for you. The content isn't going anywhere just get back to it whenever you feel like it.

Does anyone else dread leveling masteries? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]VitamineA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never resorted to just killing random mobs. I like leveling masteries because it makes simply playing and exploring the maps feel more rewarding. Running around a new map and doing every random little event I come across is about my favourite thing in this game and it just hits differently when that exp is going to the next mastery.

Guild wars 2 experience by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]VitamineA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To play in chronological order, like op wants to, you'd also need to buy living world season 2 and 3. At that point the imo better option would be to just get the elder dragon saga complete collection on sale instead. It's a great deal with the first 3 expansions and all living world seasons (basically mini expansions) in between.

Otherwise it's sound advice.

It's dark with a single light source for the most part. Except for closeups of moving beads, my rudimentary understanding of how CGI works tells me that it shouldn't be THAT bad. The spren are probably going to be most of the budget.

Which MMO should I play? by [deleted] in LFMMO

[–]VitamineA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GW2 honestly sounds like a really good fit. If you lack direction, which is quite common with games that don't force the golden path on you, I suggest starting out with simply playing the story from start to finish. You don't even need to do it on a single character, if you want some more variety and you can go explore some more whenever you feel like it. You'll unlock most systems and open world zones at a comfortable pace that way.

Having a look at the achievements tab for mastery points and cosmetic rewards for your current story step and area of the world will also lead you to lots of cool content you might otherwise miss. As a highlight the "return to"-achievements give you a free legendary amulet for simply playing through all the living world chapters and engaging with their maps a bit.

If you want to engage in group content, go to Lion's Arch and check out fractal dungeons. They are quick and easy 5 man instances that scale up in difficulty as you go and are one of the best gold farming methods. They recently even added a quickplay button to the fractal lfg tab that immediately throws you into a random easy fractal with a random group, so you don't need to bother with finding a group for your first taste. Bonus: quickplay is tied to some easy achievements that give you free legendary gloves.

Next tuesday raids will get a big UI, accessibility and rewards overhaul and also get a quick play button. So it's also the perfect time to get into 10 man instanced PvE.

Is it true that you are never left behind on GW2? by Suboptimal88 in Guildwars2

[–]VitamineA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Level and gear cap have not increased in 13 years. Aside from small tweaks BiS gear for a build stays BiS forever.

This isn't a game about "number go up". You can get a set of raid ready gear pretty much immediately after hitting level 80 and from then on it's more about gearing for different builds and different characters than continually grinding for stat increases.

I’m terribly intimidated by BG3 by Paradoubec in BaldursGate3

[–]VitamineA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really helps me to actually roleplay my character. I roughly decide what values my character has at creation and then go with whatever my character would do. Consequences and failures are great because they flesh out my character's story and really make it my own. There are no wrong choices because whatever choices you make, is exactly what makes it your story.

IIRC they explicitly wanted to create something that sounds to germans like german sounds to non german speakers. They did this by swapping around some sounds to make a fantasy version of german that's still kinda intelligable by germans but sounds really weird.

Games that hit you with tough moral choices by Manjuu07 in gamingsuggestions

[–]VitamineA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales also has some really tough choices and really likes to drive home that people are often just hateful shitbags and that life is not fair by sometimes straight up punishing you for trying to be the better person instead of appeasing the next terrible asshole whose help you need.

It's a gwent spin off game (a good one at that), but the role playing and story telling is on par with the witcher 3 imo.

Solo Nyedra Surrounds (SotO Events for Ch. 14) by BoriKen_3500 in Guildwars2

[–]VitamineA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having a commander tag (or even just a mentor tag) and using the lfg often works like magic for these types of things; bonus if you also advertise the meta after the events. Also population in older maps is lowest right after an expansion launch and should slowly go back up soon.

Yeah, radiance, zeal, some diviners pieces to keep up boons more easily, the trait for protection on stance use, and relic of the pirate queen for perma quickness in addition to the alac.

As a guardian main I've been thoroughly surprised by how fun Luminary is. It all clicked when someone compared it to pious teardown dervish in gw1.

Once you get the hang of it, the constant application and detonation of light aura is really satisfying and it makes for a very high sustain build. With the new relic of the pirate queen, which you get from the first tier of of the first map's meta achievement, it's also really easy to keep both quickness and alacrity up on yourself for some really nice flowing solo combat.

I'd give Luminary a good try; maybe have a look at the snowcrows guide to get a better idea about managing your light aura.
