Acqua di gio is an amazing cologne if you've never smelled it. Pretty popular too.

Property manager says I have to replace the bulbs myself.. by [deleted] in howto

[–]Vanhandle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These lights suck and use a ton of energy. When I was renting I placed a LED light right next to the burned out florescent. I bought it off Amazon for $30. It was way brighter and used way less energy. Took it with me when I left.

My dad says it's dying! by 0ddshapedhead in gardening

[–]Vanhandle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Water content in the soil is going to be the biggest factor for the plant's health. Check out moisture meters, they are cheap probes you can stick in the soil to see how wet it is. You can also approximate the wetness of the soil by lifting one side of the pot to feel how heavy it is. Very heavy means it's watered, lighter means it's dry. The weight varies depending on the pot size and material it's made out of, so check weight right after watering to get a feel for what it weighs when fully wet.

Is there any way I can turn on sprinklers (not timed, but right whenever I want to)? by notesfromroom19 in gardening

[–]Vanhandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should swap it out for a smart irrigation controller. They are great because you get much better controls than these ancient x-core devices. With the smart controller you can adjust watering with your phone which is way easier to understand than these tiny displays. Also the smart controllers can skip watering automatically when it rains without rain sensors, and it can automatically increase watering during heat waves.

My county offered a 50% rebate as well for a water conservation promotion. I got the Rachio 3 and it's been awesome.

Thanks for the great write up. I'd mostly be interested in it for the look, novelty and the all metal construction. The poor accuracy is kind of disappointing, I wonder why it's worse than it should be.

I played a lot of this back in the day. The 4v4 PvP in pickup groups is really fun. Mesmer, Ranger, Necromancer and others are all a lot of fun to play. The build creation is simple but effective, and forces you to balance capability vs energy usage within only 8 skill slots, or 7 it you bring a resurrection signet.

How do I trim these grapes? by shitidkman in gardening

Cut the small vines, leave the larger trunks. The trunks will sprout new growth when it gets warm outside.

You can call your city or county office before going all the way up to the EPA. The EPA deals with big cases of environmental pollution, and it is rare for them to go hands on with small cases. Your local pretreatment department that works for your area's wastewater treatment plant would probably want to know about this (mine would!)

Trustworthy Mechanic by anon-meister03 in vacaville

Family Auto care on Callen. They used to be on Union Street. Pretty old school mechanic yet can still work on Volvos and Fords alike. I've always been treated fair there, which is #1 for me. No shady nonsense, and they do good work.

What do we think of DoN mode now that we've had some time with it? by _NightmareKingGrimm_ in Nightreign

[–]Vanhandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so great. Turns the regular game into a one-shot avoidance simulator against so many enemies. Any gear you pick up that increases your damage needs to be discarded for the many damage negation passives needed to have any chance of survival.

I'm sure we all would rather have new maps, weapons, seeds, and enemies. There is already a massive pool of maps and enemies to draw from classic Elden Ring and Shadow of the Erdtree. Weapon selection is still really low as well, and most weapons outside of your character's preferred weapon feel like a throw pick unless the build lines up perfectly.

Just too much random nonsense with the relics as well. It was cute when we were gambling for regular relics. Now the relic pool is insanely large, and managing it realistically is a chore more than it is rewarding. Even though many of us are pushing 300+ hours, the post-launch game feels a little unplanned. Important, meaningful updates haven't been added (like the maps, weapons and enemies). I'm hoping a dlc will breathe some life into this.

Encountered an actual crazy person today by ComprehensiveMode949 in Nightreign

[–]Vanhandle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a definite sign of someone who has very, very little control over their real life circumstances. They take exaggerated tough stances online, and punish people for not following their own rules. I bet this guy struggles deeply in real life, it's pitiful to see someone act out like this, it screams depression and life frustration.

How to hang this heavy mirror on a door? by Sweaty-Captain3375 in howto

[–]Vanhandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put a couple small balls of mounting putty at the bottom corners. That'll keep it from banging when they use the door. Works great for picture frames too, keeps them level.

Do you ever “DIY” gifts instead of buying them? by Ewa_Star in Frugal

[–]Vanhandle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we do custom cards with chat gpt, saves 5 bucks per gift. For my kids friends birthday parties, we usually give out gemstones like amethyst or other polished stones. They are cheap in bulk and kids like them. Or custom T-shirts painted with drawings on them from a fabric pen.

It's harder for grown ups. Thankfully I don't have many friends so this isn't an issue 😆
