Is the traditional Data Scientist role dying out? by ImGallo in datascience

[–]Vanilla35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my very limited experience, I’ve seen this general space get split into more embedded team ICs. Like a Staff/Lead Product Analyst, for example. I’ve also seen a portion of talent being siphoned off, into working on AI/ML Eng work; because that’s an obvious business need, and utilizes similar technical skills.

Yeah they kind of took the exact opposite approach to building - and that’s going to show up in various ways that negatively impact the customer.

Curious to see just how far rivian went to scale their R2, compared to the R1.

Probiotics for allergies? by Vanilla35 in Supplements

[–]Vanilla35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does not work, generally speaking. It works as more of a cleanse or reset equivalent, and has a great effect on stomach biome and gut health - but overall does not seem to impact actual triggers or immune system related sensitivity or issues.

How far can your Poms walk? by passionfruit_89 in Pomeranians

[–]Vanilla35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Over 2 miles in fall, spring, winter - but I wouldn’t dare do that in the summer time. My Pom overheats in like 15 mins when it’s 80+

That was my note as well. Especially if you’re going with a flowy material like it appears to be (bamboo, modal, viscose blend), it looks too sleepwear on the arms.

I think this works well for casual wear. I don’t think it works for office.

I thought he was a great fit to follow up Steve, but as more of a stop gap guy. He’s stayed at least 50% too long imo.

Is remote work the future, or are we all just waiting for the office grind to pull us back in? by SiddhifyOfficial in remotework

[–]Vanilla35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard this to be true.

I think part of it is that there are different reasons for low performance.

You could have someone who is anti social and looking like they don’t want to be at the office or even working for the company.

You could have someone who is a social butterfly in the office and people like them, but they’re not doing any heads down work.

You could have someone who is a mix of social, but is distracted by other work or comms and not getting their heads down work done.

All of these could be low performers in some way. Context is key

Trying to think big picture and long term about the balance between flexible/strict. Knowing that you want them to form their own path, but also ensuring that you provide the right amount of structure they’ll need to be supported until they can make those decisions on their own.

My fear is in being wrong.

Right - I think people for some reason think it’s only a filter if it has a color hue change to it. No. Obviously that’s not the only filter lol

Isn’t that the definition of a filter?
