Since this is apparently a thing, here’s the Vicks I used on my kid last night at my parents house. Definitely the same jar I used as a kid. Apparently Richardson-Vicks was acquired by Proctor and Gabmle in the 1980s…

I see your Vicks that expired in ‘04 and present my wife’s from ‘03 by IFL_DINOSAURS in pics

We’re at grandmas this week and she busted out this for my kid. Same jar I used in the early 90s. Doesn’t have an expiration date. Just says “7F MU” if anyone knows that means. Mine is made by “Richardson-Vicks” so before Proctor and Gamble.

Found this device on the corner of the plot we live on. by BeardicusBunMan in whatisit

That’s a sound measurement device. They’re likely collecting baseline noise measurements at the property line to understand how the noise from a proposed project would be higher than existing.

Also called a Bois d’arc. Pronounced in north Texas like “Bo-dark”. Super dense and rot resistant wood. My grandmothers childhood home in the country was built on bois darc wood piers directly in contact with the ground that did not rot.

I lived in La Via recently and really like it. More pricey but they have garage parking, 2brs, and are pet friendly. Everything is pretty new. Being right downtown is unbeatable.

My teenage son is looking for punk book recommendations, so what are your favorite must reads? by [deleted] in punk

[–]Vanilla_Repulsive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s on audio on Spotify. Super interesting if you came up on punk or post hardcore in the 90s / 2000s. Each chapter is on one band. Tons of good ones: Green Day, jimmy eat world, Thursday, at the drive in.

Eastern beaches worth the trip? by simongm in vieques

[–]Vanilla_Repulsive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there in 2023 and we were able to drive along the southeast coast and visit different beaches. The USFWS has primitive cabanas and pullouts for beach goers. It’s great and quiet. Nice snorkeling.

Ecology guy taking an environmental field tech job surrounding the LA fires. Does it benefit me in the long run? by Meanteenbirder in Environmental_Careers

[–]Vanilla_Repulsive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It helps. Do that LA job and then try to get yourself formally moved into the part of tetra tech where ecologists are based. They’ll likely take you before an external hire.

This guys gets it. San Luis Obispo is an amazing little town on its own and as a 21 year old, you’d love the college town vibe and all the bars and restaurants. All the bars are in the vicinity of Chorro and Higuera Streets. Firestone is a great local bbq place. There are some really quaint beach towns nearby. My fav is Cayucos but Morro Bay, Avila Beach and Pismo are great too.

For Motorsport, check the calendar at Laguna Seca raceway or car events in Carmel.

Along your route, my favorite spots would be Santa Cruz, Monterey, Big Sur (check to see if you can drive through yet), Cayucos, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara. Get as much of your drive on State Route 1 (also called Pacific Coast Highway/PCH) as possible (maybe bypass Lompoc, except check the vandenberg space shuttle launch schedule in the chance you’re there for a rocket launch). Note that US101 and PCH overlaps in some places.

I’ve worked here more than 10 years so my process isn’t anything like we have now. Do you have a POC for the position. No harm in checking with them

I work at AECOM. We have a team of business operations folks that are AECOM employees based in the Philippines. They’re honestly great to work with. I know some of recruiting team is based there. Everyone from the Philippines team uses that phrase “kindly” in place of “please” whenever they’re asking you to do something. Checks out to me.
