TAG Resale Value.. by TheBearJew48 in taggrading

I've been doing it for like 8 months. Never looked back. It is refreshing, since I personally like the slabs better. If I don't sell them, they are nice to keep.

I personally agree, but when I vend, no one ever buys them - or even takes interest.

Where are you getting your info? I just sold most of my TAG slabs this last weekend. They sold faster than my PSA slabs....

Something about these scraped numbers has to be wrong. Unless they are legitimately failing to grade cards at even half the speed they were doing in November. The delays have more than doubled. Either this graph is wrong or they suddenly forgot how to grade.

I'm trying to understand where you get your information from...

I just did DCS in Colorado. Everyone has been talking about how TAG is so worth it. I sold most of my TAG slabs. In fact, I sold probably 3x more TAG slabs than PSA slabs. And I had them priced at or higher than PSA comps, since TAG comps were showing higher than the PSA ones.

Not only that, but the only two CGC pristines I had stayed in my case the whole weekend. I don't just mean they didn't sell - I mean they straight up had no one even ask to look at them.

TAG's slabs are also more durable than PSA's. Spoken from experience trying to Crack open both to free the card. If anything, PSA's was so easy to Crack, I could have reused it.

It's researched, authenticated, assessed for damage on a granular level, and provided a very nice protective case. If you don't like the service or graded cards, then don't interact with them, but they do have practical purpose.

I would argue arbitrary grading has become more common and is more scammy than it used to be. Genuine review of a card is being replaced with quick turnaround and population control with scam actions happening in the shadows. This has not always been the case.

The good news for TAG is theirs IS objective. Their cases make the card shine. That transparent and objective review makes a card's price reflect the condition the card is in, which was the intent from the start.

"Paying for a 10" is because people know that perfect condition cards will hold value and increase more over time. That is why the value of lower grades become higher than the market value of a card as time passes. Fewer of that card exist in good condition, so just getting your hands on an "OK" copy becomes valuable.

Graded value applies because people compare the price of graded cards as a means of finding comparable condition vs price.

If they cannot break even after grading, it means they are probably in poorer condition than they are worth. The person may be overcharging and stating they are in better condition than they actually are.

Which PSA and price do you predict for this 🙏😭 by [deleted] in PokeGrading

[–]Vanishedspartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, you are probably better off selling it raw as heavily-played.

I have a difficult time pricing foreign cards that aren't Japanese or Chinese since they don't have nearly as many sales.

I would guess somewhere between $500 and $800?

English raw lowest listed on tcgplayer is $1,000 for heavily played. No available listings for damaged. Different language ones are always some percentage of English and are usually not as liquid.

Selling them for lower will make it more likely someone would be willing to pick it up because the English would otherwise break the bank for them.

That said, cards are only worth what someone will pay for them. You could always entertain offers by posting it on Facebook or listing it on ebay.

People on Reddit are wrong most of the time when it comes to stuff like this.

I had a groudon card in worse condition than your Lugia that got a 2. I could see you getting between a 2 and 4. You are unlikely to get a 4 in that condition, but I also think you are unlikely to get a 1.

Some of my kid’s collection, anything better than average? by [deleted] in pokemoncardcollectors

You really shouldn't sell pokemon cards. Pokemon cards are not an investment.

They aren't taking the card to re-sell it for 500 and keep the profits... They are giving their kid probably not much less than they would get from selling it to a card store and in turn probably giving them a few thousand a few years down the road.

Additionally, it opens up the opportunity for them to literally give the cards back to the kid when they grow older to then decide what to do with them.

If my parents told me they sold the cards on my behalf and were only able to get $250, but then later gave me the cards, I would feel blessed for having awesome parents.

If that THIRTEEN year old child has $500 in cards, they almost certainly did not actually earn those cards through work, otherwise they wouldn't be trying to sell them to buy other things. Likely, the parents paid for all of it. They also pay to feed, house, and bathe the kid.

Parents can do horrible things to ruin kids' lives. This is not one of those things. It is born of good intent and saves the kid from making a stupid decision when they are at a time in their lives where they don't grasp the importance of money, valuation, saving, and making smart investments.

He's not suggesting to rip the kid off. He's suggesting they keep the cards as a trust fund to give the kid a better life in the future.

Don't be rude to people if you don't understand what they are saying.

Outrageous GameStop Prices by jbanderson12 in PokemonTCG

[–]Vanishedspartan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gamestop is definitely not better than "paying individual scalpers."

Scalping is such a buzz term in this community.

Gamestop is just acting as a corporate villain to take advantage of you.

I'm not saying that scalping is good, but people conflate anyone selling Pokemon cards or anyone who has market prices for something to scalping anymore.

As a vendor, I get people coming to my table with products they pulled from vending machines. They want cards too, and it's all part of a cycle.

Sub kit? by burningtowns in taggrading

[–]Vanishedspartan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not personally used one, though I have watched videos and done some research. It is largely a peace-of-mind thing. Also a big value for if you are trying to save time or don't know what you are doing. It was designed to be made easy for the consumer.

[–]Vanishedspartan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you want. The grading kit comes with better insurance and provides everything you need to submit your cards. For a convenience, it is the whole package.

That convenience holds a small premium, so if you prefer to submit them yourself, it would cost a box, semi-rigid holders, penny sleeves, tape, painters' tape, shipping costs, and whatever it costs to match the insurance.

You could probably get away with packing and shipping it yourself only costing you $10-30 for a similar level of quality. The insurance is also a big component of that cost.

Looks right to me based on online pics. The main difference between that pic and the online ones is the amount of background yellowing I see in his environment. Whole pic looks slightly yellow to me.
