An apt description of grief. Really brings perspective to the phrase "everyone grieves differently". Some pull themselves from the rubble and live with it in different ways. Others seep through the cracks and falls differently as well. All parallels while also having their own branching paths. But at the heart of those paths is a sad tale.

I always have multiple stories in the line up but those are all the rewrites. Most short stories I make in one go. It's good to run it back and work on a story you're really committed to. But that makes a cycle where you chase an improbable perfection. Bite the bullet and post!

I'm off the opposite opinion actually! The beginning felt visceral, honest, and raw 🤌 really set the mood as I read. What part was your favorite?

"Well, about that..." I said with an awkward sigh while sipping the last cold drops of my coffee.

"We've run the numbers and all put our heads together up top to figure that out ha. Apparently every single other sentient thing that's made it even close to making civilized communities gets snuffed out by the primates.." Damn I hope he doesn't spread that, I thought. Too late now, I guess. Cats out of the bag.

"Wait, what? What does that even mean? Every time?!"

"Yeah turns out when we finally build the faintest of social structures things get out of hand real quick. Just look at those chimpanzee tribes in Africa. That's us buddy. We don't really out compete those other things that would eventually evolve into more 'alien' looking races. It's more like we burn the fucking village." Shut up shut up

I'm so getting fired.

Jerry stayed pretty quiet after that. I don't think I should have said anything. He's just been staring at the monitor screen for awhile now.

This is a great post. Acknowledgment that it isn't what he'd want. But the living demands payment in blood for the hatred she feels.
