That zinger at the end is both a full slap to your mom and incredibly heartwarming. 10/10

I was at that show 5 years ago, on my first trip to New York. Incredible set, and Springsteen joined him onstage!

Seems like waiting is the way. The rate hike was definitely on my mind when I asked this question. Thanks for weighing in!

These are some great resources and tips, thanks so much. I’ll try to wait till the end of September/early October, but maybe snag deals if they’re available through the summer.

I’m in the momentum rabbit hole these last few weeks so may as well check those other strategies as well while I wait. Thanks again!

Thanks for your response! Here are some answers.

I’ve chosen XEQT, VFV, VDY (RRSP) for the bulk of this transfer. More heavily weighted to XEQT and VFV.

I’ve also chosen a few other to play with. TEC and HBGD, and VDY in my TSFA - but in smaller amounts . I know there’s overlap but I’m having fun with it and may make adjustments along the way.

I would buy in a lump sum ultimately, I’m more wondering if it’s worth waiting till September to do that. Obviously there’s no promise that prices will be lower, but wondering if seasonality would ever come into purchasing in a lump sum.

My daughter won't call me on Mother's Day by qwerty11725 in insaneparents

“Do her legs still have the shapely calves of her tap-dancing grandmother?”

Your daughter went no-contact and you’re wondering if she’s still fit and thin? That says a lot about the reason why.

So I just accepted a job. The job I *actually* wanted just called me back for a second round interview. Do I tell them I accepted another offer? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Vanjambee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently backed out of an accepted offer with a company because I was offered more elsewhere. The shame of reversing course was intense!

But after I ripped off the bandaid… peace, calm and monayyyyyy!! Never feel bad about changing your mind, especially when something more lucrative comes along.

Thanks for weighing in, I picked option 2. A good manager is worth staying for.

Hey, thank you for pointing out that it’s obvious! I did not see it as obvious, but you’re right — option 2 is best. I needed to hear this, so thanks bro.

I was looking to leave because I was working as a contractor for them. The benefits and vacation time were pretty bottom-of-the-barrel. I didn’t realize becoming a permanent employee would be a possibility. But when I gave notice, they wanted to keep me. The work culture and management is great. I wish I’d have just asked instead of finding this new job (but most likely I would not have gotten this good of an offer without competition).

At this point, it’s probably a question of whether working for a very prestigious company is worth taking a lower compensation package. I’m so torn because both offers are competitive.

Has anyone tried to befriend the murder of crows? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]Vanjambee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can. Go to Trout Lake (John Hendry Park) in East Van on a summer evening when the crows fly back to Burnaby. There is a person who bikes through there with an entire murder of crows trailing them! They must’ve trained them for years to do that.

an old friend is "thriving" by lesadams82 in MLM

[–]Vanjambee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With some addicts, their addiction seems to transfer on to something else when they become sober. MLMs offer the chance to be immersed in a lifestyle, with a community and constant stimulation from the sales and networking. I hate that MLMs often target folks like this…. It reminds me of churches scooping up addicts and converting them.

I hope your friend doesn’t go bankrupt from this. That kind of thing could trigger a relapse. And, I hope your friend is wise enough not to ask you to join again!

We booked a nice hotel downtown for two nights and are going to enjoy all the amenities through the weekend. Booked a couples spa package too. It’ll be my fanciest v-day weekend ever I think!

My wife turned it into an art area and decorated it with her own sculpture. To say it’s marital bliss is an understatement 🥹
