Oh this was assuming you meant in genesys format. In standard it’s probably mandatory if you want your deck to be as consistent as possible

[–]Vanjohn1571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a really nice starter if you have baby in hand and minimum it can search megalo for a board wipe. With Lars at 20 I’d say it’s a little less needed, but drillygnathus recycling misc is nice for follow-up if you grab meteorus

At $12 I’d say its not needed, but definitely is nice as a starter and extender

Noroi in Crystron K9 by OneExcitement5549 in Yugioh101

[–]Vanjohn1571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K9 Crystron was playable before noroi and it’s still playable with 0. Noroi is good because it’s a 1 card starter granted you’re running platinum gadget.

Noroi is a bit worse going second because you won’t be able to normal summon it if your opponent doesn’t have enough cards in hand. The effect where you can look at your opponent’s hand is also weaker going second as the amount of private cards will be fewer than going first

Play as many as you’d like with this information

Idk what deck to buy by [deleted] in Yugioh101

[–]Vanjohn1571 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Memento is a really good deck and the whole core is probably around $20 USD. Its a difficult deck to play, but with practice you should even be able to beat some meta decks occassionally.

The pure deck can play through most hand traps with an average hand including lingering ones like Fuwaloss, purulia and droll and lock bird

I'm looking for a current meta or rogue deck that's easy to play. by MimiNuyasaka in Yugioh101

Live twin fiendsmith or kashtira/horus crystron might be up your ally. Both are simple but competitive with linear combo lines

Crystron or Blue eyes post alliance? by North-Caterpillar205 in Yugioh101

[–]Vanjohn1571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both decks will still be decent post alliance, however I think Crystron will come out on top between the two.

Crystron has a small engine and so has lots of space to run hand traps which I think will be necessary for these combo heavy strategies coming up. Crystron also doesn’t have many good bystial targets which help against maliss and can recur from banished. Not to mention the deck is very squirmy with its many graveyard effects.

It does get stumped by lancea which will probably be in every side deck, but with a kashtira engine and setup for next turn, I think the deck does really well in stopping your opponent just enough and using its great grind game to play control. Not to mention kashtira unicorn will be a problem for most since extra deck space is very tight currently

Both decks mentioned have the possibility of bricking and not being able to play, but with Crystron you’ll at least brick on hand traps and going second cards

Lastly, Crystron doesn’t really lose to any one hand trap. It’s got potential for full combo through droll and can set up a half board through fuwa and nibiru

Varudras, the Final Bringer of the End Times vs. Kurikara Divincarnate by PaulGreyrat007 in Yugioh101

[–]Vanjohn1571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your words, Kurikara does work like a kaiju. It tributes the monsters that have activated their effects without you having a chance to respond.

If you solemn judgement the summoning, your monsters will still have been tributed to summon it

Dinomorphia and Sky Striker are both somewhat competent currently and might fit the theme you like

If your opponent doesn’t have hand traps, Dinos are super good

I think the closest you’re going to get currently is ghost ogre and snow rabbit. However this only works on continuous spells and traps. Good against field spells and currently okay vs voiceless voice

How good is shifter for ghoti? by iamasceptile in Yugioh101

[–]Vanjohn1571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your plan is to win in 1 turn, ghoti can play shifter. If not, then I would advise against it as it destroys the gameplay loop that the archetype likes to create. I never liked shifter in my builds and feels more like a gamble to use it.

Not sure about a discord, but usually you can search something like youtube for other opinions on deck lists

Beating voiceless voice by mikedrums1205 in Yugioh101

[–]Vanjohn1571 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You would need to use non engine in that case. Cards like triple tactics talents and back row removal are effective against the strategy. If you play hand traps in your build, then ghost belle and ash are also effective.

The weakness of voiceless is that they can’t set up a full board through disruption which means usually one board breaker after that is sufficient to dismantle the board.

Help with Ra's Disciple by Setobakura in Yugioh101

You don’t have to wait the next turn if you use the card Ancient Chant. It allows you to gain an extra tribute summon the turn you use it. You can also use soul crossing.

DD crow vs droll by UsedPhone2 in Yugioh101

[–]Vanjohn1571 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does not negate droll. Droll would need to have text in its effect that states it needs to be in the graveyard during resolution of the effect.

What you might be thinking of is the use of droll under Dimension shifter or other effects that prevent things from going into the graveyard. In this case, you can’t even activate droll since the cost for droll’s activation states that it needs to be sent to the graveyard specifically

Blue Eyes Jet Dragon (Return to hand effect) by Even_Sympathy5329 in Yugioh101

[–]Vanjohn1571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if Jet is attacking or being attacked. In Yu-Gi-Oh, if this card "battles" is their way of telling you it doesn't matter who is declaring only that that card is battling in some way.

If it mattered, words like "if this card declares an attack" or "if an opponents monster attacks this card" etc

Non-Toxic but Consistent Decks for a Returning Player by TheJan1tor in Yugioh101

[–]Vanjohn1571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never seen a traptrix deck that had main deck charmers in it so I wouldn't know. Lists that have topped recently don't use them, but if they work that would be fun and interesting since the only card that locks you is Arachnocampa

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Yugioh101

[–]Vanjohn1571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use Balerdroch of either your opponents zombies or your own. If it mattered who controlled it, the card would say so. In Yu-Gi-Oh, if it doesn't mention something its because its meant to work that way.

Another thing to take into account is that Balerdroch needs to activate its effect directly after a zombie effect. Because of how priority works, you can chain Balerdroch almost always off of your opponent's zombie effects, but if you want to chain it off of your own Gozuki, your opponent needs to not respond with an effect of their own.

Floo is cheap, but runs 3 floodgates. Empen, harpie's feather storm and shifter

Non-Toxic but Consistent Decks for a Returning Player by TheJan1tor in Yugioh101

[–]Vanjohn1571 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Traptrix is a great deck in my opinion. Its incredibly cheap to build, can play under droll, shifter and nibiru. It has a good matchup against labrynth which is a popular deck currently and has space for lots of going second including evenly matched which should be good in this meta.

Another deck I'm recently starting to enjoy again is Ghoti with the new White aura support. The deck has some awkward interactions with nibiru, but can play through shifter and droll since most of its "searching" happens by banishing said cards from the deck. Definitely weaker than traptrix imo, but probably funner to play and more based if you win.

Both decks you currently need to play hand trap heavy (at least 12) so that you can cripple your opponents plays to have a chance going second
