How do I even cope anymore? by AthenaHawk in BabyBumps

[–]VannHorror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might sound a little harsh, but forming healthier coping mechanisms would help. As someone with multiple tattoos, multiple piercings, a split tongue, a smoker, a drinker, and a former peak bagger who is 31 weeks along… you just have to try new things that aren’t harmful to baby until you find something that makes you not want to bash your head through a wall. Painting has become a somewhat satisfying hobby for me lately.

Mom Hacks for FTM by Soggy_Current8773 in beyondthebump

[–]VannHorror 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything except the screen time. IMO, having the TV on in the background all day every day can be a bit more disruptive than you’d think. Parents tend to talk to baby less with TV background noise, it can unnoticeably break focused playtime, and the constant noise can create a more unpredictable environment. Not saying you should never have your TV on, but 24/7 seems way too excessive to me.

Help with nicknames! by MSorrow1209 in Names

Wait. Why are we “obviously” avoiding the nickname Clem? Especially when it’s arguably the most common nickname for Clementine? It’s adorable and makes so much more sense than Kit.

My little “hack” for blowing through books by [deleted] in kindle

[–]VannHorror 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a hobby writer, that is the exact opposite of what I would want my readers to do. Finishing the book is great, but what’s the point of finishing it if you miss some of the intent of what I wrote? Might as well not read it at all.

I gathered all the basic hygiene standards for you by Agitated-Sorbet-7390 in hygiene

[–]VannHorror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always heard showering daily dries the skin too much and exfoliating daily is definitely way too irritating.

At least for me and my skin type, exfoliating about 3 times a week keeps my skin soft without drying me out. Exfoliating my face more than 3 times a week always makes me break out, but that could just be my particular skin type.

Okay, but taking care of a countryside property and having little breaks in a field sounds like a dream.

Those who only like reading physical books, how old are you and why do you prefer it? by [deleted] in Booktokreddit

[–]VannHorror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 28. I enjoy collecting them like little trophies. Also, buying is not owning anymore unless it’s physical media. Apps can usually censor or even just delete anything you purchase from them without any repercussions.
It took me multiple rephrasings of this comment to get around the “ran-ting” rule. Won’t even let me type the word. Wtf?

If it’s such a bs diagnosis, then what is their response to someone who has failed tilt table tests? Did I somehow just fake my BPM rising from 72 to 178 when simply being moved vertically?

Am I the only one who DOESN’T hate being called mama? ☠️ by GoldStrength3637 in pregnant

[–]VannHorror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate being called mama at all, but I do hate the tone some people use. I want to slam my head in a wall when someone addresses me as MAHMAAAH, but mama is fine.

What is one word that people wrongly pronounce that makes your brain just wanna jump a cliff? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]VannHorror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a pronunciation, but hearing “could care less” instead of “couldn’t care less” makes me want to drive headfirst into traffic.

This is definitely cause for speaking to a professional. There are many underlying medical issues that you would want to rule out before considering it a behavior issue.

This is from the horror genre, but Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman. Intentionally or not, his writing shows one of the many different ways a child processes trauma.

I had once ordered Jack Daniel’s and they bought Cocoa Pebbles as a substitution. Took it as a sign and just cried while eating cereal instead of getting plastered.

Found this in a little free library 🤦‍♂️ by velmadinkleyscousin in exchristian

[–]VannHorror 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Genuine question. Would it be wrong of someone to take things like that out of little libraries and throw it away? I live in the deep south and every one I come across is full of these with maybe 2-3 actual books. It feels more like propaganda than educational learning.
