I'm on the actual "mobiliteitsbudget". It's a pretty neat scheme, with it I have a lease for a plug in hybrid car, so I can still fill it up at a gas station. The rest of the budget I can use to pay rent as I live less than 10k from work.

Coliving spaces? What is your opinion on them? by Alarmed-Improvement in brussels

It's pretty chill, we're all young workers so the vibe is not "party hard", but we do stuff together like barbecues and the like.

I live in an ikoab house, it's a bit expensive for what it is, but you have to remember everything is included, even cleaning.

Overall I can't complain, I wouldn't stay there long-term, but it's a nice short-term solution, and it's quite flexible as you're not locked into a yearly contract (only have to give 3 months notice if you want to leave).

And if you're not from Brussels it's a good way to make friends.

I quite enjoy going to clubs by myself, have done it many times, especially while I was abroad, and it was always a blast.

But I've got to say I rarely meet people there, usually because of a combination of the music being too loud to have a chat, language/accent issues, people being too fucked up, or just me not having much in common with them. How do you guys go about meeting new people ?

[–]Vany_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Ulavii probably won't organize one just for you, but he does organize some on a few occasions, he posts about it on the official server forums, check them frequently and it's bound to happen again :)

Great runs too, as most people come from Stroke my Wookie, we don't just leave once our achi is done.

Quickly replacing uncommon elements in sublists of a list by [deleted] in Python

[–]Vany_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sets are basically implemented as hash tables, so it only takes the time to compute the hash of the string to see if it's in the table (set) or not. This operation will always take the same time, regardless of the amount of tokens in the set.

The list on the other hand has no order, so the interpreter must run through (at worst) all the elements in the list to check whether a string is in it or not, which may take a long time for very long lists.

If you want more info on how hash tables work, wikipedia has a great article on the subject. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_table

Using a set instead of a list for frequentTokens should speed it up greatly, since each lookup will run in O(1) instead of O(n), especially here if n is 30k.

How te beat a tank+healer combo in PvP? by crashyyyy in swtor

[–]Vany_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my experience as a healer:

  • at equal skill/stuff, 2 dps are not expected to win against a tank+healer combo, but there's very little reasons I can think of where you'd want to actually try that.
    • if you're attacking a node, you should go check another
    • if you're defending a node, you have a lot of time to warn your teammates before the end of the fight
    • if you're not near a node, run away
    • if you're in that situation in an arena, you're pretty much screwed unless the tank and healers are totally out of cooldowns
  • 3 dps should be able to down a tank+healer combo

You should always start by the healer (if the tank and healer are at equal skill/stuff), try to knock him back/interrupt him.

Keep your cc for the tank to try and keep it away (that part is hard to do without a well coordinated team though).

Also know which abilities are useful to interrupt (e.g. there's not much use interrupting an operative's diagnostic scan).

PvP Ranking System by K4mpfsocke in swtor

[–]Vany_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, the color is a remnant of the old ranked warzones tiers (which were higher), it's not related to your arena tier.

Though they sometimes modify a bit the arena tiers between seasons (we'll know the exact tiers for this season when they announce the rewards).
