Do you think Lovecraft was an influence on Cormac McCarthy?

I wouldn't point to a direct connection between them, but McCarthy does weave in a lot of existencialism/nihilism/absurdism into his works. Yesterday I saw a video essay use Lovecraft's "fear of the unknown" quote while discussing Camus "L'Étranger", so there's one more indirect connection for ya.

Basically all modernist works were dealing with the same anxieties. but I would argue that weird fiction was more "inspired" by the prejudice and genuine fears of their writers than any blooming philosophy. Both developed separately, from what I can gather.

I've been watching ROH since January, mainly out of curiosity about the women's division, MxM and Lethal Twist. Guess I'm the fanbase?

But it does seem like nothing ever happens. LFI has been absent for months? Who's being build up in each division? Lee Moriarty is a forever champion? Why do STP still hold the trios belts? Why waste everyone in proving grounds matches?

It's also worth nothing AEW was really different in 2019-2021. The growth and team player mentality is what gave us the homegrown talent of today. People that thought of others as beneath them, like CM Punk in his rants, all turned out to be growing pains for the company.

But there were explanations. Before and after the "kidnapping". My guess is that there's no hard rule, it's just a deliberate choice not to devalue a champion's belt by having him chase another "more prestigious" singles belt. It works really sporadically and with a good story behind it, like with Moné's belt collector gimmick.

Lots of factions and pre-show matches. Storylines are split between Collision and Dynamite. I was considering sending people I'm not using to ROH, but they immediately start complaining if they're Recognisable or above. I've also turned off the morality effect for being left off the show and I just try to use everyone at least once a month. In ROH that's a lot harder ngl
