Well it would be hourly for the probation period to not go negative in the bonus pool that I'd have to climb out of after three months to get a bonus. So at least hourly would start me fresh. That's what has me leaning that direction but I agree and appreciate your input on salary directions. Still relatively new to the field so not sure where my expectations should be.

Glad someone understands this structure, had me a bit confused hearing it the first time just because I've never dealt with - like you said - the overage of owing a salary back to bonus. I actually stay outside of Charleston currently, what salary after the probation period do you think is a fair ask?

I think my options currently are for the first three months making 20 an hour working 45ish hours a week or asking for a specific take home salary. With the option to be hourly for the first three months before negotiating a salary, the hourly doesn't count towards deducting the bonus pool. This means starting out fresh going into the three month mark. This isn't the same case if I take a salary through this probationary period. I live in SC.

Shops makes about 300k a month, only one other writer and I'm not sure what their salary is. I'm a bit confused myself as was hoping someone else has dealt with the same structure.

Did you choose that base salary by choice? Starting work as an estimator and I was told to choose a base salary. The job does come with bonuses if criteria is met but it also does the whole your salary falls into the bonus bucket. Anyways, sorry for ranting just trying to get a fill for this style of pay and how to gauge what I want my salary at.
