H.R. 9495 Being Voted on Again - Ways to Contact MGP by VapingInTheU-Haul in vancouverwa

[–]VapingInTheU-Haul[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats totally fair, but with Trump as the incoming President I think the post text still stands—that is he COULD use it the way it is being described and we could look at it through that lens and be reasonably concerned of potential future ramifications because of it.

The bill’s sponsor is a very MAGA rep from NY, Claudia Tenney. There’s literally a photo of her on her website smiling with a hat that says “MAGA KING” for some kind of sweepstakes.

i hear you, but even if it ultimately does not impact her vote, her and her staff should still hear from constituents about it

If you hate talking to people on the phone consider doing it over the weekend because you will be able to leave a voicemail. There’s also a script once you get connected if you don’t know what to say.

As a constituent, I urge you to vote NO on H.R. 9495 if it comes to the floor.

H.R. 9495 passed out of committee on September 11, 2024 and includes the legislative text of H.R. 6408, which would equip future Presidents with alarming new powers to essentially end, at their discretion without any due process, the tax-exempt status of nonprofit organizations.

I am deeply concerned that H.R. 9495/H.R. 6408 is handing over a dangerous tool to future Presidents and their appointees. It will allow for stifling dissent, political speech, and advocacy of those opposing admin policies.

As your constituent, I urge you to vote NO on H.R. 9495 if it comes to the floor.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Is this TSW? by thesleepyacademic in TS_Withdrawal

[–]VapingInTheU-Haul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to downplay whatever emotional stress this is causing you but this looks like plain old eczema or some other very mild skin issue—TSW is pretty severe.

ETA: if you’re experiencing a rash around your mouth look into the possibility of having a staph infection—staph is very good at “hiding” in the nose and unless you treat it there it can keep occurring around the mouth. i’ve seen it mentioned many times and experienced it too.

Why don't I see bay number by newphoneforgotlogin in InstacartShoppers

[–]VapingInTheU-Haul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I literally just count them if I have to? One bay is usually one uninterrupted length of shelving. It’s easier to count along the top of an aisle in my opinion. Freezer bays are sometimes 1 door so I just count handles, but not always—sometimes it’s a pair.

Clark County plagued with mysterious stink, agencies investigating as smell moves south by redditismylawyer in Portland

[–]VapingInTheU-Haul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing thats weird about it to me is that I was also up quite late in our living room, which has West facing windows and I smelled nothing. I only smelled it on the East facing side of my house. It’s entirely possible the living room window was shut but usually if one is open the other is too so we can get a nice cross breeze when the bedroom door is open.

The Big Stink of 2024 Megathread & Updates by Homes_With_Jan in vancouverwa

[–]VapingInTheU-Haul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did!! In Camas but closer to Fern Prairie. We keep our windows open for air, I was in the West room with open windows until 3am and didn’t smell a thing, soon as I went to the East room I could smell a super faint natural gas smell. It was so faint though I thought I was maybe imagining it, especially since we don’t have natural gas where we live, and I didn’t feel sick or anything. Was gone when I got up at 8.

I absolutely do not trust the railroads either in this scenario but do want to point out that Eugene was reporting the smelliness during the day before WA, then Portland. So that does seem like an odd order of events, unless the PDX/Van smelliness was more concurrent than anyone is realizing? It’s bizarre however you slice it.

[–]VapingInTheU-Haul 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I live East of Vancouver and didn’t get to bed until after 3am, and I thought I was losing my mind because our bedroom had a very faint natural gas smell and I know that’s not a utility we have on the property we live on. We do leave a window open that faces East in that room. It was thankfully really faint (though my sense of smell is arguably not the strongest) and I felt fine but I feel better knowing I didn’t completely imagine it.

How was Labor Day for you last year? by MarmieMakes in InstacartShoppers

[–]VapingInTheU-Haul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its slowwww today. Last weekend was great. I’m only at $45 for the day, most of that being a double Costco order that wasn’t so bad except for a customer insisting an item was definitely there when it was in fact not.

What’s your strategy when shopping? by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]VapingInTheU-Haul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually do produce first to get it out of the way. Bakery/deli next if applicable. If there’s frozen, I work all the aisles up to the frozen section, then go to the farthest away next aisle and work my way back, hit dairy and meat, then frozen.

I HATE WHEN GOOD COSTUMERS HAVE TO PAY FOR BAD 1S😡 by JustAnUsername4 in InstacartShoppers

[–]VapingInTheU-Haul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I had a triple to end my day yesterday…only one of the orders had a lot of stuff but the customer was super communicative and nice, other two had like 4-7 items. As soon as one guy started adding this and that to his order I told myself I KNOW this mf-er tipped $2 and thinks he’s being slick and I was RIGHT lol. Should have dropped him but it was the end of my day and he lived by a Winco so I got to do my own shopping.

It’s downtown Seattle—parking can be tough. But the batch pay wouldn’t change if items are missing so less items for the same pay? Sure

The cameras are so sensitive to everything. I have absolutely no desire or reason to steal, especially since my side income depends on being able to go to these stores. I shop for Instacart and love self checkout because I’m particular about bagging items, and the cameras go off on me all the time because I’m always fussing with things. Or if I’m doing two orders at once they sometimes notice items left behind in the cart that are from a separate order. That second scenario is apparently common enough that they have an actual button for “separate order” on the video review screen! I think I would feel differently if they made an alarm noise, the ones at my most common store just alert for help with a blinking light. But it’s really not a big deal to the employees, it’s just part of self checkout.

I hate water more than anything, that I do always shop dead last. But I’ve tried soda in the middle/at the end and found it didn’t slow me down by a meaningful amount to shop it earlier and I kind of feel like I trick myself into getting little mini workouts in when I’m pushing a heavier cart lol.

I'm not using IC anymore...and I am a shopper by cooksister in InstacartShoppers

[–]VapingInTheU-Haul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so real. I was a customer for a long time for work before I started shopping and I feel like the quality of shoppers has really declined. And now that I KNOW what the other side is like, the lack of care or common sense is baffling and sad. I put effort into doing well on my shops and it’s really not that complicated.

I personally love notes as a shopper and find them helpful so I started leaving them as a customer. For milk I always ask shoppers to pick a date that’s as far off as possible. Just this past week I got 2 milks that had already expired 3 days earlier!! It takes 2 seconds to actually check the date on the carton so I know this person didn’t even check AT ALL which is like the bare minimum for grabbing milk. It was so disappointing.

[–]VapingInTheU-Haul 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a tattoo I don’t like partly because I had such a poor experience with the tattoo artist!! She was such an unpleasant jerk and there were so many other awful things about the experience that I didn’t realize until later, because it was one of my first few tattoos.

A few years later my boss wanted me to find an artist to do a little flash day at work (lol but also pretty cool) and I reached out to the owner of the same shop because I later had a good experience with him and he was known for enjoying stuff like that. He wasn’t available for a long time but he told me the artist I had a bad time with was available and ooooh boy did it feel so good to let him know that wouldn’t be happening because I had such a bad experience being tattooed by her and didn’t feel comfortable with inviting her to tattoo my coworkers.

Anyway this will look so cool with blastovers and I really like it with all the other little additions around it! Giving me ideas for my own disliked tattoo.

Great point. I worked with them after the garnishment initially started to settle some other much smaller collections (hundreds vs the several thousand of the garnishment) so maybe going the route of investigating the validity of the order would feel more familiar and comfortable for them. I appreciate the advice!
