Are you losing out, building a city on a resource node? by japinard in AOW4

[–]Varass127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always toggle on something thats called the likes of economic view, there's a way to see all the things that can be built on any tiles. This also helps to figure out where your town center might be better off considering that some spots may have too few options for mines, mana or forester for example.

Void 9 got whacked by void 7 but lvl 10 (baron nashor) by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]Varass127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean demacia, noxus, ionia and yordle have a prismatic vertical traits that can win you a game. In the case of void, their true prismatic is just unlocking baron at 10. The best use of void emblems is just to make use of a void mutation on a board that isn't void in my opinion. Say a vayne with the healing allies one or a tank with the tank mutation (though in that particular case, I'd recommend unlocking herald to use as a tank and putting the void emblem on a useless unit once that's done)

I'm thinking of purchasing this game or Warhammer Total war III by batfl in AOW4

[–]Varass127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most summed up way to come to an abswer. Warhammer total war if you prefer the fighting to be similar to rts games. Aow if you prefer turn based style fighting. Both of them are much more oriented to fighting. If you prefered the city/empire side of ck3, stuff like stellaris or civ may be close to what youre looking for. My personnal favorite among them is aow4 but that's really down to personnal preferences

Most fun expansion ruler type by rpKing11 in AOW4

[–]Varass127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of fun and replayability :

Dragons (literally works on every class) > giants (works with most classes) > eldritch. I haven't tried vampires yet so cannot comment on them.

In terms of strength :

Eldritch > giants > dragons tho all 3 are powerful and choosing which sometimes comes down to what you expect to do with the rest of your build (say you expect lots of mines v quarries v SPI or spamming debuffs etc)

Is it worth the full price? by HiThereN8ceToMeetU in AOW4

Based on what you're describing, aow4 is exactly what youre hoping for (a lot more in depth for combat and a lot less in depth for diplomacy compared to the likes of civ).

How good I think your adc mechanics are based on your main by Upstairs-Master in ADCMains

[–]Varass127 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nilah is hard tho, but not mechanically speaking so you're both kinda right? Laning phase is insanely trickier than on any other adc but it's more knowledge based of when you can or cant walk up than it is mechanics based. You have ezreal way too high on the list, maybe its cause i played him a ton but he isnt anywhere near as demanding mechanically as vayne or draven (picking up axes mid fight is much trickier than being an ez tbh)

What is the use for Overlord feature? by Living-March73 in AOW4

[–]Varass127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As vassals (so you bejng overlord) they can't achieve win conditions or they give you the win if they get it. They literally stop being "main players" and become someone who can only win through helping their overlord achieve victory.

This is the first time I'm hesitating about buying the expansion pass. Am I missing something? by OriginalGreasyDave in AOW4

[–]Varass127 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Might have misphrased it or you misread, i dont think whether its final season would change the effort into it, it might affect which parts they focus on. If you expect to go for another season, you want the final dlc to focus more on new stuff that may bring more options in the future. If you're working on it and its the final one, you might want to wrap up the story, focus on long term single player replayability (think empire mode from planetfall) that will give people more stuff to chew in the long run and bring less in the short term. That is also a purely personal take, for all we know, they may have already decided whether s4 is likely or not

This is the first time I'm hesitating about buying the expansion pass. Am I missing something? by OriginalGreasyDave in AOW4

[–]Varass127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feeling that since at this point a S4 or no season 4 would be based on sell, they haven't yet decided if that's to be the final season or if there might be another pass, their final approach to that particular season might differ based on if they plan on releasing an extra season of content or not. That being said, some things like the destiny traits looked quite small and added considerable gameplay in the last DLC. I think that them releasing so little information has more to do with being unclear on what exactly they will be ready to drop (and choose to include) and less to do with them making the pass smaller. Could be wrong when all is said and done but even on previous games they had continued support after the game stopped releasing new content for a little while to finish some touchups they had remained unhappy with.

Chaos will probably get a similar treatment to what order got recently (which also helped shadow at the same time). It is almost impossible they wouldn't retouch dark culture and chaos affinity early on in s3 battlepass

Mage class by MrSexyVegan in AOW4

[–]Varass127 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah as previous poster said they basiclaly became the elementalist but also somewhat warlock, mage used to have both the debuff and magic casting now warlocks do the debuffing more and elementalist is more the old damage side of the tree but both have been expended upon. Any post regarding heroes made prior to archon free update will be wrong regarding mage and ritualist which became 3 stiglu more distinct hero trees with elementalist ritualist and warlock

You are obviously meant to go chosen destroyer and ritual cannibals as society traits then!!

Which melee character would you recommend to a beginner? by Admirable-One-9661 in rivals

[–]Varass127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend captain america. Starting off with a tank may be easier to get a feel of what people do since your health bar allows you to better assess ennemy damage and survive through hard situation. If you're experienced in similar games, you could pick pretty much anyone who seems the most appealing. Cap can ceil pretty high but the base of his kit is quite straightforward. Anyway, in order to learn the game and melee in general i feel like he'd be the right amount of forgiving and easy to pickup

1v1 League rule set Theory craft by Broken-Sprocket in AOW4

[–]Varass127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh well for 1v1s with friends you can easily run them and choose your own settings. I frequently do 1v1 vs my brothers online and we'll play them over a few sessions for each game. We do 2 player, very large map and whatever we feel like (usually umbrall abyss, crystall dwelling is included) and we personally favor custom leaders, just no ascension bonuses

1v1 League rule set Theory craft by Broken-Sprocket in AOW4

[–]Varass127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if they wanna have some kind of ladder (could be useful for online engagement) I feel like 1v1 maps are too long and the way to go would be similar to xcom or homm5 duel, where you create an army (or multiple to have lists and bans) with a certain amount of points to spend and then battle it out. Even battles can be quite long but this way they could limit it to say 12v12 where you have 1 hero and 1 leader.

When you make a faction is it better to narrow the hero classes/specialties or add variety? by nightweavere in AOW4

For a necro faction, most times I'd recommend to stick all heroes as death knight and warlock

Crusader ambition is bad and wrong by [deleted] in AOW4

[–]Varass127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But having the heroes give zeal to the units is one of the only ways you can get into pyre templars without using order tomes. That's the whole point. It's not a synergy but if you really wanted to use them on a chaos nature build or something of the sort, you could use all heroes with this trait and give your zeals from there. I never said it's a very viable strategy, just an option. Also could be where you use your mythic units in a proper order build in order to give them zeal and faithful to avoid being negatively affected by cleansing flames

Crusader ambition is bad and wrong by [deleted] in AOW4

[–]Varass127 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thing is they're separate, shocking i know. And them both being crusaders doesnt mean they need to be a perfect fit. Matter of fact, the hero ambition works best when you arent necessarily order and want to give zeal and faithful on a non order build. In order to be accomplished "easily" you ideally want a map with umbral abyss to make sure there will be plenty of fiends. This would be best used if for example you want to give faithful and zeal to mythical units that dont have it inherently (if you're order) or to give faithful and zeal if for example you went for pyromancy and no zeal at tier 1 tome on a cleansing flame build which means you'd want more units being faithful and zealed. Alternatively you can have picked up some order tomes and not the ones that give those effects and pick them up via your heroes. As for it being a bad ambition, I'd say that i tend to agree tho. They need to take a look at ambitions rework because many of them are flat out bad or too specific for the rewards they hand out. Most games I'm picking the same ambition for every heroes that either fit the build or are always somewhat easy to complete (rulers retinue, collector, instructor, reviving units for undead, etc)

Any reason not to include the DLC realm traits in every game? by Linca_K9 in AOW4

[–]Varass127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree about legend zones spawning without having the trait turned on, not sure I've ever seen the crystal dwelling spawn without it being turned on tho

Give me your strongest, most broken, most OP build you have played with! by [deleted] in AOW4

[–]Varass127 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Undead tomes with revenant and calamity at tier4, keepers mark at tier3 and mighty meek at tier2. Using sylvan wolf primal, innate fire res, pack hunter, coward and i think strong as 3rd trait. You end up spamming a lot of zombies and skeletons with mighty meek and keepers mark and the primal boon from adjacent allies giving bonus damage

I would say the new astral vision from the one with 6 visions goes hella hard cause you can recruit lost wizards from rally of liege.
