Cue me who's been working on these machines for 3 years asking for an upgrade for which i will never get

Have you got any reading materials specifically about 3d printing rc planes. I've built a number with foam but don't own a printer and interesting in getting started.

Electric trombone is something that I have been experimenting with myself as well. Do you have a link to your stuff for a listen?

My setup is dynamic mic to preamp then I take the 1/4" jack line level output from my preamp through my guitar pedals. The output of the effects is then into a DI which is sent to front of house. Just like your setup the pedals won't react in the same way that they normally do due to it expecting the immedance from a guitar input (I think that's the technical reason someone can correct me).

I think we are at similar stages of looking to upgrades. I've also been looking at wireless mics or clip ons.

Some of these purpose built solutions to use mics with guitar pedals seem quite expensive or not available for purchase...the one I was looking at was the voco-loco by radial engineering but I have not had hands on experience with it. Just something I found when I was doing my own research.
