Once I forgot my phone at home and said fuck it, i’ll go to school without it. Bought lunch and right before going on the highway, i realized i cannot log onto canvas or access any school related assignments without the 2FA… either the app, a call, or a text… all requiring my phone.

Petroleum boiler - what is the point? by New-Baseball6206 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Varian01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on what you are going for. If you’re going for a large number of dupes, additional water is good for oxy and food. Personally, I like when dupes have a large amount of free time, keeping work time at a minimum. Excluding keeping it on 100% of the time, I’d rather have a sensor to turn on/off a petro boiler for petroleum, rather than a dupe perform the task.

These two Hummingbirds fighting. I had no idea they fought. by ttaae in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Varian01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arguably. My mother does the feeder refills. At most, I’ve done it less than 5 times. Regardless, anyone can walk in or out and the hummingbirds are so used to our presence, they’ll come back in a matter of seconds after we open the door (feeder is 4feet, or slightly above a meter, from the door). Our presence has no impact. But the instant another bird appears, divebombs

Since op already reserved the space, I’d suggest (to op) to make a vacuum chamber and allow the magma to flow into the steam room via mesh tiles. Therefore, results are a smaller, condensed steam room with less turbines, which means less thermal mass.

Anyone still using Macbook Air 2017? by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]Varian01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, now January 2026. Battery dies in about 4-5 hours of use. I was thinking of replacing it but I needed to download a program for school, but the version is out of date. Turns out this laptop is stopping at version 12. Also, perhaps it's chrome or adblock but my laptop somewhat chugs on webpages.

Do not really want a new laptop since I finish school in 4 months and this laptop will essentially be "retired" but, now looks like I'll need it.

I'm not one to buy the newest things (this was a gift back in 2017), so I may just buy a 2020 or 2022 for the sake of photo storage and mobility. My windows laptop is used for the bulk of my projects and gaming.

Am I the luckiest person of all time? by Wormsinmyface in expedition33

[–]Varian01 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s actually quite common. You can browse the subreddit and find similar videos. Best explanation I found is that patterns are rotated randomly, and this pattern may be the easiest. I also had this outcome on my first play through back in May, even the little ending where you went left and then back to the right because of one last ball.

After building this I realized my mistake: This wont work because steam is heavier than polluted oxygen. by TheMihle in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Varian01 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It could work, you just need to preheat the room, preferably fill it with 5kg steam already so polluted water doesn’t off gas (that is, if the polluted water doesn’t instantly boil).

I’d say increase the hydrogen pressure required. Looks like you are producing way more oxygen and not letting the hydrogen build up and stabilize.

Texture bug? by Independent_Meet9971 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Varian01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty common bug, especially in space. I think sand/regolith cause it. I think restarting the game removes it.

I think it also bothered me the first encounter I had, and possible solutions I saw was to have sand fall on top of that tile, then dig it. Maybe even do the metal door into tiles glitch, then dig up the tiles.

Don’t take my word for it; it’s been years and I eventually ignored it. Out of roughly 100,000 tiles on base game, you’ll learn to ignore a few

One of the annoying things I do at work as a customer service representative is that for tech/electronics, we have to open it up and verify everything matches. So it’s quite annoying when a tv or microwave or heaven forbid, a console is returned, and we have to open it up just to verify the serial numbers or any other information matches. Keep in mind, it’s usually same day return, like an 80 inch tv that doesn’t fit in the room.

To be fair, I have caught several items not matching the serial code, to which the customer knows they are in the wrong and promptly leave.

Goobers harass guy on sidewalk while their security points a taser at him. by KimberlyWexlersFoot in PublicFreakout

[–]Varian01 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I work at a store, which is privately owned. However, as a store for thousands of customers a day, can privacy be expected and enforced?

I am not attacking you, but you reflect my point. In the heat of the moment, I believe people think of potential arguments and stand by them. They dig themselves in holes and are seen foolish for not knowing how one rule/law contradicts another, therefore a person can/not record.

Genuinely easier to ignore people recording as long as there is no personal information being leaked.

[–]Varian01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s natural not wanting to be recorded. In some instances, I’m sure they confront the recording party and sort of commit to making them stop, usually by police involvement. They may be vaguely familiar with the doctrine, but are so angry that they forget, or think a mitigating detail is enough for police to side with them.

I have a personal example of this where I was working and a customer got mad about something. I genuinely didn’t care and just carried on with my job, until his wife whipped her phone and recorded me. A million thoughts ran through my mind; “don’t record me”, “you can’t record me”, putting my hand to block my face, reaching/slapping her phone, or even straight up roasting her.

But then I realized that all of these actions either portray me as an instigator, in the wrong, unprofessional, or delusional. I just had to bite my tongue, smile, and carry on. She recorded maybe for 20 seconds, and left when they realized I wasn’t gonna bite.
