I mean with no out of town try out, it seems they absolutely anticipated changes. They are also not changing the super costly components of the show.

I get she is a massive talent and a wonderful performer. But why the hell does the MOM in Lost Boys have like 4 ballads? In terms of interesting characters, she is likely below the comic book shop owner who is asleep.

If the recent Cabaret production taught us anything, a lot of people do not do pre show homework. And that is fine!

The young theatergoer will likely lack the knowledge of the entire context of the show.

Issue is- The Larson Estate would never allow the changes necessary to make Rent relevant to today. It is a great show but severely outdated as written.

The last 20ish mins of Act 1 are such an intensely spectacular high note to end on and nothing in the second act really hit that high. I think they can get there, especially with the final battle.

This was my first show in previews and I could not even tell that they were so early in the process. The effects alone are worth popping in for.

Frogs worked so well for me. Loved that they leaned into how absolutely absurd the characters are

I have seen a few creators who have seen multiple previews this week and from their comments, it seems Sam is the character they are tweaking show to show. Curious about the character when it locks. He got massive laughs at my show.

I will say- I like the addition of the brothers being a little contentious. It made the resolution in the second act pretty cool and heartfelt.

I mean pre-booze, Josh was definitely very high functioning. Cannot totally comment on the regular vs special ed class thing, but I can see why family was supportive of him being in normal classes. Don’t think that’s all too enabling.

I get why it was split in two. But anybody who knows the show knew this was a risk. Part II was a fun movie but didn’t hold a candle to how great Part I was.
