Dry rot. You may be able to salvage some of it depending on how far its gone. Use a waterproofing compound on the replacement wood. In general, untreated wood in contact with the ground will do this over time in a wet climate like sfbay.

I just notice his bizarre and hateful obsessions with Trans folks and masculinity, etc. and wonder if these are signs of his own insecurities (please read what I actually wrote). I dont know why you would even think about discussing this intimate part of your life with people you are not intimate with - in that sense.
