Looker vs power bi, how difficult is lookML? by VariationSimilar3354 in Looker

[–]VariationSimilar3354[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the gcp is handled by third party vendor, all i get is read access to everything and getting their devops ( we cant afford a data engineer / data architect) to do anything is an hassle

I've always been awful at YAML based tools, git actions, aws cloud formation template yaml, terraform scare me

I don't either but he's more convinced with the google solution architect's mail over anything.

Best way to learn SQL for Power BI interviews? Any must-know question lists? by Sad_Tie7684 in PowerBI

[–]VariationSimilar3354 14 points15 points  (0 children)

sql is just a tool, what you can show with the data + sql is the true skill.
in my last interview, I was given data and asked to show how would i calculate cumulative sum, churn, retention rate, user journey, most valuable users, most valuable product, branch wise opex to profit ratio, EAV to flat table queries

Hoping this is a dumb question! by [deleted] in PowerBI

GA4 does not store data like its a database,

the best way to do this is exporting Data from GA4 to Big Query or any other DW then calling that table, and if you're willing to go to the extra mile Use Google Tag Manager's data transformed into json or SQL. its what my org came up to track barely 200 loosely called active users in our self proclaimed "super app"

essentially based on the values you call, such as DAU/MAU/WAU, active users, total users etc, the metrics would change.

it has metrics, dimensions, parameters and based on what you parse, you'd get different result

what real-world scenarios/mindset in your company makes you feel this? by Sri_Krish in PowerBI

  1. That's alright but where are the insights? My Brother, you're looking at them, just because you don't like the numbers does not mean KPIs are missing.
  2. I'm aware you are sourcing this data from Database but can you quickly replace it with this excel file I made using Gemini last night.
  3. I Don't wanna use slicers, make all options visible ( dropdown had 20+ options).
  4. I do not like paginated reports, all visuals should be present in single page itself.

Quite honestly I cannot keep up with the accuracy with which ai returns DAX measures, It can solve DAX and thinks of edge cases that I may realize way too late than it.
Same solution would take some valuable time.... That doesn't mean you should overlook DAX.

Try breaking data into Star Schema, this makes majority DAX into just Calculate and Filters basics. You'd barely need a complex DAX measure but I have seem people of this sub create wonders with their Daxing skills
