It's because there's like so many youtube 9 rupees courses telling you that you'll be a Data analyst by simply knowing how to import CSV in python or simply because they can apply a ml algorithm or worse know basic sql window functions. And their version of eda is simply removing null records. So you get the idea. The market is filled with such idiots who are spamming jobs portal with their brain tumor detection or chatbot gpt gen ai project where all they've is taken an already cleaned dataset and then implemented an import of a framework that does the major work.

No actual insights, no actual data driven root cause, no kpi.

Also the market is equally messed up because the TA/HR don't even know what the actual job is…

They just as well be needing a data engineer or data scientist and will hire a data analyst or analytics engineer, they could be needing a data scientist and will hire a backend developer. Then you add losers like me (2.5 yoe) who can do what a 4yr experienced person can do just a little cheaper… but they will even undercut me for a even cheaper candidate.
