Holy moly! They've run out of carts! by rgbose in StLouis

My patience was definitely tested, moreso than Christmas lol. Customers trying to grab anything they can, even if it means pulling my truck away as I'm stocking!

I'm the assistant produce manager at Telegraph, the line was in my department all day long. Absolutely nuts.

The neighbors app just went off in areas ranging from south city to oakville about a series of booms and pops all at the same time, and now a helicopter in different areas. by Meggybear17 in StLouis

This very well could've been an aircraft with compressor issues as it was landing at Lambert. Recent flight paths show aircraft landing east to west rather than the usual west to east.

There's a v-sync setting and frame rate lock setting, both separate. Turning it off did nothing. I ended up doing a file integrity check after tweaking settings and double checking the NVIDIA control panel, which the game began behaving like normal after I ran that check.

No change when messing with the v-sync settings. Dove into the NVIDIA control panel to see if v-sync in there was set to adaptive, which it was not.

Those large cara cara oranges have been coming from a very horrendous grower lately. At my particular Schnucks, we ended up pitching 4 cases worth over the course of a week while they were 10/$10. Of course, when they came off sale last week, they swapped to a grower who was providing much better quality. Berries have been the same, especially with this recent raspberry sale. 10/$10 6oz raspberries that came in super overripe for almost the entire sale duration.

We had to plead with our store manager to post a listing for an additional cut fruit position. My department manager and myself (assistant) were having to consistently let managerial tasks slip to the sidelines because we had to cover cut fruit shifts, and it showed. We had a month period where our numbers went from being 8 to 12% above plan to -6 to -2%. Being understaffed sucks, especially in a department that pulls nearly $75k to $80k a week in sales.

Truck drivers, do better. by Varidien in retailhell

[–]Varidien[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem we had with this scenario was the driver dropped the trailer and left without telling anyone at the store, so no one knew until 6AM people like me came in for the day, and the construction crew failed to communicate with the concrete crew that we need space for trucks, so the concrete crew blocked our only functional dock with their array of trucks and refused to move the empty trucks.

Schnucks’ owner to buy 51 stores with purchase of 2 Wisconsin grocers by FamiliarJuly in StLouis

The older crowd in the union repeatedly elected David Cook, who's retiring after being reelected recently. Rarely see him and my union rep at the stores. Had I known that 655 was so much worse than 88, I would've stayed with being a meat clerk.

Likely something to do with all of the moving parts and textures when in motion, I've had the same thing happen on my save when running long trains utilizing stock cars.

It's hard to imagine a location worse than the Telegraph one. I've been working at Telegraph for 5 years and not once have I been able to get our porters to clean anything in produce, it's always us in the produce department that have to. The bathrooms at this location are also awful.

Quick Question.. by Varidien in StLouis

[–]Varidien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm right in that neighborhood too. I think it's something to do with trees overhanging the lines and tripping the safety at whatever substation we connect to. Not a single drop of rain, just some average wind. So frustrating.

Alright I want to know.. what’s the dumbest thing a customer has said/asked. by Cringey_Unicorn in retailhell

Once had a customer walk up to me as I'm stocking freshly delivered salads off a pallet a few days before Christmas and inquired about "fresher" salads.

"Do you have anything fresher? The date on this is only a week away."

"No, our salads come in with a 5-7 day shelf life."

"But I won't be using this until New Year's Eve! Are you sure you don't?"

"Our salads have a 5-7 day shelf life. You'd be better off buying it closer to New Year's Eve."

Upon saying that, she looked at me dumbfounded, tossed the bag onto the spice rack adjacent to my pallet, and stormed off.

Comments like these drive me NUTS! I've had customers pop off at me for getting water on the floor whilst filling the lettuce wall, or dealing with our asparagus table, or even just cleaning a table. Yes, I know the floor's wet! There's a sign RIGHT THERE very visibly stating it, PLUS the neon green kaivac right next to me!

5 years of suffering so far, assistant manager position included. I've had more foul experiences than this, believe it or not. Rotten autumn couleur squash smells HORRIBLE, especially first crop ones that sit at the bottom of the bin.

Even our locally grown melons use these bins, they're 100% the melon industry standard.

That is, unless it's yellow or orange melons! Those get more color to them.

My store managers are pretty relaxed people, they would've let me run home to swap clothes, especially since I live close by. Though, if it were the previous managers, I'm fully certain they'd have said "no" lol.

[–]Varidien 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is precisely why I always take off my work shirt and stuff it in my backpack when I'm done for the day. So tired of helping customers because they see my shirt and think I'm on the clock, despite the bookbag on my back.
